Getting rid of my auto restriction

Maybe he can help you use a company truck to take the road test. That's all you need is a road test with a manual transmission.

I wonder if they lease manual trucks now. But manual has always been the gold standard on the license, so I bet you'll have to take a test using one to get it change and the auto restriction taken off. This would not be something Prime could do on their own. I would call whatever state you are licensed out of, the CDL unit, and find out what they require. And then do you have a chance or know how to drive one to take the test, which most likely you'll have to take in your home state.

Get the tanker endorsement. The test is easy and the endorsement is required for certain common freight that is loaded in van/reefer. The law changed years ago. Back then you only got the endorsement to pull tanker trailers. Now you need it to haul totes inside a van or reefer.

 

That's why I had to get mine. Never pulled a tank but we do move those big totes.
