heard of guys deleting primer pump on secondary filter base on cat engine. Did a search on here and have not found how to do this. Is there a kit or new base?

What's the benefit of doing this?

Pureflow also makes or sells a cap and gasket. Not certain if exclusively used in conjunction w/their AirDog system or independently w/out the system. Via there installation instructions, it also appears as if one can drill the fuel ports to allow for a less restrictive flow. Cap part # is 002-4G-0006. Gasket # is 002-4G-0007. Naturally, please don"t quote me as I am also researching the subject an this is some info I found. I just googled AirDog II Cat C15 install parts list.

I made a post on TDG a couple years ago how.

I used the Pureflow cap. I did that because in the 11 years I've had the truck I never used the hand primer and read of potential problems they can cause when they fail. Wrap the hand pump in a rag and store in the sidebox under bunk just in case.
Here is some pics:

I worked on Cats and some new ones do not have the pump, I put them on when there was a problem. Removing one because someone of limited intellectual ability told you so is one step lower than taking a dump behind the 5th wheel and telling us all the benifits of doing that.
Cat only puts them on to? balance the engine side to side, make the engine look better, obstruct the rad braces, give you anouther hand hold? Or maybe if you have to change a filter and have nothing to fill it you can prime the system?
Just a thought! -
A few years back cat put a bunch of engines into service without the hand primer pump, they would also cover the cost of installing a primer pump on any of these if you asked for one. So are you pre filling the filter with fuel before you install it? You are doing more harm than good. They have the pump for a reason

On some Cat equipment the fuel filters are mounted upside down specifically so you CAN'T pre fill them. I prefill my filters but I fill them with 2 stroke oil from a freshly opened bottle to ensure no contamination.
