At will employment, right to work state? All they have to say is we don't like you. You're not guaranteed the job just because you go to the big O and they didn't have you sign a guaranteed contract of employment before hand. Now if you feel like it your broke ### can go right ahead and buck a mega carrier in court. If you had that kind of money you wouldn't be trying to get a job with them in the first place. Might hope OOIDA or the ACLU to help ya...

I used to do hiring in a place that did background checks, non-trucking job, we often compared what the applicant gave us versus what the background check gave us. So for us, it was a test to see if we could trust you.

Its fine to ask 20 questions. I'll draw the line somewhere on answering stuff, just my personal take, but I'll happily play 20 questions with a recruiter.

Why? Tell the truth but steer the conversation towards something you're curious about and then ask that question. If you show willingness to answer their questions honestly, they'll be more inclined to answer yours honestly. Not to mention, if they won't answer, that's when it's time to say, "#### off." That's my 2 cents. Just need 1.98$ more for a cup of coffee now!

Exactly, I used do service work for the government(Civilian Contractor), had access to vaults of major cities, etc and never had go through some of stuff that company wanted.

I also did a bunch of temp service jobs and can't remember every last company and details about them(i.e starting/ending dates), They should be able to figure this stuff out on their own, I'll put down what I remember and they can fill in the gaps from there. Especially when they want the past 10 years, Much easier if you only worked for 1-2 companies in a 10 year period but if you bounced around with different temp agencies it's a complete cluster #### trying to nail down every last detail about them.

And you don't confess anything to the pompous ### safety guy who thinks he is still in the special forces/FBI/federal marshals(LOL). Seems like those guys just love to work for Mega Reefer/training companies. Just yes, no, and if you have to explain do so in as few words as possible.
"So you have a DUI 5 years ago?"
"Yes, May 1st 2011 state of IA." thats it.
You don't need to explain how Susie Rotten Cro..tch broke your little hart, at prom night, on the day your momma died, and your beloved dog got hit by a car. Was the reason why you were drinking.
Your there to say as little as possible and get out of his/her office as fast as possible. Try to be polite. Never hurts.

most companies basically just want to know you weren't in jail :biggrin_25524: Or in some far away country getting trained by people who do not have the BEST INTEREST for North America as their # 1 PRIORITY

I always did find amusement in the term fustercluck... ;)

I mean no disrespect for those who are/were in the armed forces, but you are right TMNT. I lost count of the number of "office guys" and drivers that happened to be in the military prior to working for SNI.

Completely understandable, but again isn't that what background checks are for? Whether the guy/gal is telling the truth or lying their still going to have to pull it and see.

And do Canadian strip clubs count as far away & shady? :biggrin_25525:

Before I was a full time driver I was a bit of a wild man in college. I would lump furniture all summer long, save money and go back to school and not have to work during the semester.
I got into some minor, stupid college guy stuff, no felonies or anything. Once I became a full time cdl driver i decided to get my hazmat endorsement and twic card even though I didnt need them. When I present
those 2 credentials to a potential employer and they aren't good enough for them as far as my background goes, I walk out the door

Special Ops/ Secret security must not be too hard to get into and we sure do need a lot of them judging by the numbers I have meet while trucking. And every V Vet that came back after that war are all living on the streets based on how many of those I've meet. If those numbers are true for Vets then we surely do live in a F'd up country.
