I'm strongly considering a career change. I was wondering how I get into hotshot for the oil field. I have talked to many drivers and I get many different answers. So if anyone is willing to help I would greatly appreciate it.

1ton truck: Dodge, Chevy or Ford? 4x4? 5.9 Dodge diesel, Duramax, Powerstroke?

    Trailer: 40' flat?

should I work for some or O/O for myself?

How do I get my loads and back hauls?

If I am missing something please add.

    Thanks,
    K9Cop

Dodge with a cummins. 2wd is fine. 40' flat bed trailer. Working for yourself prob. wont work. Why, you ask. The typical oil company doesnt want to get a bill from 89 different trucking companies every month, thats why. They have a trucking contract with United vision, Acme, American Eagle and maybe a couple small locals. Lease your truck to Acme or American Eagle and let them supply the customers. Any more questions your welcome to come over to "Oilfield Hotshotters" on facebook. I hope this helps.

Bayou hotshot had a truck at acme if I remembr right he may could tell you about them. Make sure your truck trailer overall length isn't over 65 foot unless you pull the P/Ubed.
