Well I am going to start school at JTL Truck Driver Training tomorrow. I am already prehired at Werner but I am not positive that thats where I will start. The school has reps come in from a couple different companies towards the end of training. I figured it would be good to be prehired somewhere even if its not the company that I start with. I am paying for my training myself so I am not committed anywhere but Werner has the tuition payback of $100 a month up to $6000. Trans am is one of the other companies that will be an option out of training, but I don't know much about them yet.

I know Werner isn't the greatest but I've got to get a start somewhere Heck pretty much every company out there has good and bad depending on who you talk to. Who knows things my go great for me there. I know ill have to start on long hauls but I am hoping to get into regional as fast as possible so I can be home at least a couple times a month. The Werner rep said alot that I liked. I know they say what you want to hear but I hope at least 50% of what he said is true.

I am excited about driving a truck. Ive always loved driving since Ive had my license. Anytime I travel Ive always liked driving over flying. Not that I dont like to fly I actually love it but prefer to be in control. Ive driven all over the US and enjoyed every bit of it. Once I even helped my Mom move from Denver to Boston in a 28' U-haul with a Car trailer fully loaded with my Mom her dog and cat. Man what a trip. I know this isnt the same as driving a semi but If I can do that I think I can handle this. The only thing that I am comprehensive about is my GF and her Son. She isnt sure she is going to like me being gone all the time. We have been together for 8 years and things are good between us. She knows it will be hard especially at the beginning but We both know it will get better with time especially if I get on regional plus once my paychecks start coming in sure it will help alot. Ill be going from making $400 a week to hopefully much more. Her Son is 14 and is excited about it. Its not like they are clingy or anything. Actually its pretty much the opposite. We all just do what we enjoy and we all enjoy different things so we spend most of our time apart anyways. Well ive rambled on enough. Hope to see you all out on the road soon.

When I started I was out for 3 weeks at a time. I was married and she didn't like me being gone, but trucking was what I wanted to do. We ended up getting divorced over it. It only took a couple years to go from company driver to O/O calling my own shots with more time off and shorter trips. Now I take the whole winter off and a lot of time in summer. If you can pay your dues for a year the end result will be worth it. In my humble opinion.
