Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.
That is much nicer route, and I just took it last week. Keep your eyes open for other improvements.

Drivers in the european union have it made and are paid very well. They went on strike over a year ago when the diesel prices went up like they did. They really went on strike, its not like a bunch of talk like it is here. 2 drivers were even killed for driving while the strike was taking place. Here you have 2 drivers (owner ops) go on strike at a loves. Its a joke. And yes, the planners and dispatcher at roehl are dirty as hell, most of them anyway. They do let the good ones go because they only want the ones who are exploitive.
-
Nate, that's the problem. These OTR's have the drivers by the b###s. I know that drivers are not scared to strike. Just that striking isn't going to pay the bills and feed their families. Any old timers here... Unions were very popular back in the 1950's.. They supported the working middl class, get it a voice and backed it up. The last 50 years was spent by the OTR's and government breaking it up. The Unions got so powerful it sent shivers down some people's backs.
-
The banks have everyone from the bottom of the food chain to the top, and that is the real problem. Yes, drivers cannot afford to strike here because they will lose their job and some ####### will be all to happy to take it. I dont think the unions are ever coming back though.

It's like somebody flipped a switch with my FM. We are doing fine now, been running hard too. Did anybody else notice that the flatbed side is was being referred to as flatbed and curtainside specialized in the recent voicemail? Take that you non-special van drivers. I knew I was awesome, but this just confirms it! Haha. It must have been a sleepless night for Rick... a voicemail at 0345... Geeze. I also like how they beat around the bush about the commodities we'll be pulling out of ports. Need a TWIC card to get in, a few chains on, and we're out... Sounds like we are going to be moving some containers soon.
-
I heard from FM that TWIC is also going to be required for some RGN loads to the coast. Got a QC message the other day asking if I had RGN exp.
I told FM they could put me on L'anse to Meridian dedicated. LOL -
Ah. I got the RGN message too, but wasn't sure what it was about. I said yes, obviously, and I already have my TWIC card.

my husband was with roehl for 5 years. the first four were fantastic. he was on a dedicated route, had garunteed miles, was home on time, and after the first year we got an annual bonus, vacation time, always got mpg bonus's, performance bonus's, and raises. never had a single problem, he was even a driver trainer, which was nice extra money, always had 2500 to 3000 miles a week. at the beginning of the year, the customer dropped the dedicated route and he went to the national fleet. it didnt even take a week and we were in the ##### house. he was barely clearing 1500 miles a week and that was pushing it. We went from having that extra student money in a savings account to having to have student money just to pay bills. he was staying out months at a time and there was a month when he only brought home $1800. he no longer got home when he was scheduled to be, no longer got bonus's or a raise for this year.the funny thing about the raises was, we didnt know that not only do u have to have 9 out of 12 months idle percentage, you also have to meet a mileage quota. we never knew about it before because he was always getting the miles. so they were cheating him out of a raise because of miles when he had no control over what kind of miles he got! it was just amazing to us how going from the dedicated to the national was like night and day. he left roehl in october and went to dart as an o/o. thats getting off to a rocky start. but all this to say that in the beginning with the dedicated, roehl was awesome. we loved them. their national fleet sucks big time. and they act like they could really care less.

I am a Roehl O/O out of Garland and am happy. Why didn't he look at O/O for Roehl. Was he on the Dal tile dedicated? How is dart? They claim to have a good local O/O program. -
he was on the gp dedicated out of crossett arkansas. and u know what i thought was funny..in december gp gave roehl some kind of award for being there top carrier and in january they axed the crossett dedicated. he did look at roehls o/o and to my knowledge they wanted something like 3 months of truck note and insurance up front. dart is starting out rather rocky, but we are working it out. were trying to learn the ropes i guess.
