If it is LS, you don't need to take truck.

In Wisconsin you get whats called a 30 day unladen permit(as others have called it, a hunters prrmit). Here, you can get it right on the DOT website, and when i did mine i got an email within 2 minutes that verified it went through and you also get a sheet to print off that has the permit number and such on it that you carry with you. Only will cost you $15.50 and a single piece of paper

good luck with the new company

OK, so forgive me if I am missing the boat here. I am buying a truck in Iowa and will need to drive it to illinois. Sounds simple enough, but Iowa wants my base plate info to give me a temp tag.......... anyone else see the problem here? If I had plates, why would I need an unladen weight permit? Really Iowa? And Illinois only provides permits for vehicles sold in Illinois, not coming to Illinois. Hey, I am just trying to be legal here, and I can't even get the truck home. Anyone have experience with this?

I would call ooida and ask. I'm sure they can answer any question. If you're buying from a dealer ask them. Or go to the gov website like the other driver said
