Getting your own medical card

Sure it exists, the scam is trucking companies trying to pin the diagnosis on drivers so they can sell them a machine.

 

I use a CPAP every night so I agree with you totally. Between the money grab and the fact the whole issue has been made into an overly complicated procedure by the government, as usual.

 

She said it had to have a data reader to be DOT compliant, which regulations do not exist for.

 

Does everyone know the D.O.T is only looking to make people with moderate or severe sleep apnea use cpap, last time I read. So you can have mild sleep apnea and the D.O.T is not planning on doing anything. People say it's scam I wonder if those people even now how they score/count sleep apnea because if the D.O.T goes with higher AHI numbers. You can have sleep apnea and still not meet the D.O.T possible requirements.

 

They also have small sleep apnea monitor system you can rent/use at home. So their cheaper then going to s sleep lab.

 

All new modern cpap have a removable data card. Even better then that they now have automatic data reporting. The cpaps have a modem and it send the info/date from your truck.

 

You got lucky. Not all doctors are that nice when they see a heavy set driver.

 

It's an independent clinic. Not tied to a corporate mindset.

 

Since I would have to pay for it out MD my own pocket, no thanks.

 

I've worked for a medical company for a while that setup cpap machines for patients. They do try and get cpap machines out to every single patient they can, that's how they make money. But they strictly go by qualifying tests. They don't fudge numbers or tests to get people cpaps, that would be insurance fraud and they would be shutdown quick. If your insurance pays for it, then they are deeming it necessary for your health. Insurance won't pay for it if you don't have sleep apnea. And btw, it's not just truckers, it's everybody
