Had a similar situation with a 2012 ISX 15 and no one could figure it out . Had a diesel mechanic Plug a fuel pressure gauge into the system and run it up out of the hood so we could see it while on the test drive. He also connected his lap top to see what fuel pressure the engine is calling for under load . While climbing a hill the engine was calling for
30,000 psi and the fuel gauge was barely at 5000 psi. They checked the fuel pump and one of the plungers was shattered and seized and the engine was only running on one plunger. It would sometimes throw a code under load but not always. The fuel pumps on ISX engines were very problematic on earlier emmision equipped engines. They had ceramic plungers that came apart and could take out an engine and they switched to steel plungers and they failed too due to the high pressure the fuel pump runs at. We had both designs in that truck and they both failed. It’s hard to replicate in a shop, you have to drive the truck and put a load on the engine . I would have them check the fuel pump. Ours was a 2012 , but I still think they had similar problems with 2015 ISX engines.

Well that sounds like a strong possibility, I knew about the ceramic flaw in the ISX and Rush specifically told me they had been converted prior to purchasing. It’s been there a week, they’ve bobtailed and put it under a load, still having no luck duplicating issue. I was told they are installing a telematics device to see what the computer is putting out. I’d hate to throw parts at it but I’m almost at the point of doing so. Thanks for the input.

Your welcome. We had the ceramic plunger fuel pump fail and Cummins replaced it under warranty. A little over a month later the engine blew and since it was just over the 30 days or 30,000 miles they would cover any engine failures due to the ceramic plunger failure they wouldn’t cover the engine. The updated steel plunger fuel pump also failed not much after having the engine rebuilt . That’s the one the mechanic diagnosed with the inline fuel gauge and laptop. That 2012 KW W900 was a total nite mare with all the emmision issues.
