The Pilot in Castaic, Ca was also a Giant and even though it is small, it was a decent place to stop.

Scots sit there surround by a fence. I think most of their business came from Bruce's. Bruce's also had a stop in Okie City and in Tulsa where the newer Quiktrip is located. That one was destroyed in a tornado and never was the same after they rebuilt it.

I remember Bruce's in Tulsa and Okie City. too bad they dropped off the face of the earth. Like most good places we used to stop in. With Pilot and TA, they sure destroyed the smaller truck stops

Long time no see, old friend! I hope you and the wife are well. What do you know about the old TA in Henrietta? I heard it has a complicated history and was over part of the Travelport chain?

Where the hell have you been? So glad that you are still around. I miss your wealth of knowledge of the older truck stops. The old TA in Henrietta, NY was one on the original TA's I believe that was founded by Mr. Phillip Saunders back in 1972. The original design of the building if you looked down from above had 3 sections, One wing was the restaurant, one was the shop and the other was the fuel islands/store. He sold TA to Ryder and over the years it was purchased and resold to no less than 3 companies, merged with National Auto/Truckstops (76) in 1997, Burns Bros., Petro and Travel Ports of America which also was a Saunders company with truck stops throughout NY.

Ta sold the Henrietta truck stop and it became the Gulf Truck Stop and now the Western Truck Stop. I used to stop ther often when I had a steady run from NJ thru Albany, Syracuse, Rochester and Buffalo. I haven't been that way in years. Thanks again for rattling my old brain and I hope my information is correct as I remember it. Keep those memories coming and don't be a stranger.

So it was pretty similar to the T/A locations in Lodi, Ohio; Brunswick, Georgia; Clearfield, Pennsylvania (now Sapp Brothers); Ashland, Virginia; and Knoxville East, Tennessee. Gotcha. Thanks!

The only one in that group you just mentioned that they sold was Clearfield Pa. The others all closed their Country Pride restaurants except maybe Lodi I'm not sure on that one. Good old Popeye's will not make up for a sit down option like Country Pride even though they were not the best.
