I have seen this program offered at some of the companys I have checked out...Sounds like a great deal and way to make a little more by pulling from your GIBill, if you don't plan to use it for something else. Any Military Veterans out there using this program? Finding out the details for these programs is like pulling teeth. Thanks.

I looked into a couple companies doing it. It sounds like a good deal but when you do the math it's just throwing away benefits. I guess if the, I think 20 years, is about to run out and you don't want to use it for family or anything else then do it. Most companies do 1 year apprenticeships, roehl does a 2 year. I know though roehl gives you training during the program, then after 16 months you go through trainer training. Then at the end of the 2 years you have the option to be a trainer.
Almost forgot, every 6 months the pay your get from the VA drops by a percentage, I think either 20% or 40%. Hope this helps.

Yeh it looked like a program meant to lessen the cost of benefits in the long run, but in my case may be beneficial since it is tax free and would provide some additional income while going through this transitional period and I don't plan to use for anything else. If nothing else it will help get me through the trainer time and pay off some bills....thanks...

I almost did it but the only carriers who had the program were mega carriers so instead I'm going to school online and getting my benefits that way. The year program will definitely help with crappy training pay.

What I have gathered so far is you will get around 1000 a month, but havent found anything out on the housing allowance. when i was going to college it payed for the semester at $3200, plus $500 for books, and almost a 1000 for housing for 4 months. but college wasnt for me. I will have to look at other options. thanks.

Ya the $1000 is all of it. Pretty much is just housing allowance.

I used it back in 02.. only got like $900 from it. Ended up putting the GI Bill to other uses later on... it doesn't exhaust your benefits.
