One article said that the ships often have an escort through the canal, Ever Given didn't. Maybe they need to make this a regular deal.

Apparently, this huge ship is unstuck and is no longer costing the world economy $400 million per hour.

Should Swift, Amazon, or FedWrex be in charge next time that'll definitely happen.

There were ships sank in the Suez during the 1973 Arab-Israel Yom Kippur war.
It wasn't that president from Georgia, it was one from California. Richard Nixon was President during the Arab oil embargo and signed the national 55 mph law in 1973. Took affect in January 1974.

    Once upon a time...

A week stuck in the Suez Canal? Once, 14 ships and crew were trapped there for eight years

When war erupted in 1967 between Israel and Egypt, 14 foreign cargo ships that happened to be in transit were told to drop anchor and await instructions

While passenger ships were permitted to complete their runs through the canal, 14 foreign cargo ships that happened to be in transit were told to drop anchor and await further instructions. This move sequestered them … for eight years.

    Sounds like reefer. o_O

If I remember correctly, after 8 years, the only ship that was capable of steaming out on it's own power immediately was a German ship.
