Hi, I am a female in my early twenties and I'm tall, strong and love to work hard. I'm in the middle of getting my class A CDL license and will be getting hazmat and tanker endorsements. I have been around construction all my life and consider myself a great driver. I'm wondering if I could get responses on what I could do with no experience and being a young woman to show that I would be a worthy candidate for a job? Also, any advice on what I should gain more knowledge in if I would like to get into an oil field driving job?

Start as a company Driver for a tanker Business. I know in Williston North Dakota they are hiring and hurting for drivers. Schneider National pulls tankers out of Houston Texas. If you got a clean Drivers License, the sky is the limit. Woman Rock!

Pay your dues with a national mega-carrier for 6-12 months, don't have any accidents, then look for openings in more specialized freight.

Thanks for taking the time out to reply to me everyone. Infosaur, I had definitely considered a national mega carrier because I know it would give me great driving experience and I do need to pay some dues most likely doing Otr.

Cant think of the names of the companies other than Haliburton (sp?). Call one of them up and see what experience is required. I wager they dont require loads of experience. You may be able to start without doing the mega carrier thing.

On a serious note: Better bring your A game, and grow the thickest skin possible. You are going to run into a-holes every day on the job. Theyre going to waiting to pounce when you slip up. Stay as professional as you can, keep your private life private, and dont sleep with anyone in the whole oilfield business.

    Cheers.
