What BBQ joint did you go to? My favorites were House Park or Donns - never made it to Franklins as I wasnt about to stand in line for 2 or 3 HOURS for any BBQ.
Girlfriend in Texas cheated already. Should I still go to Midland or another part of Texas

Von Ormy is still Bexar County.
-
In early 2000’s San Antonio granted Von Ormy rights to incorporate 1.9 square miles. Basically severing ties to any of SA’s services. They have no good fire or ems or hospitals. It is volunteer. They have their own small police force but I’m not sure if the Bexar county sheriff dept. patrols there. The only revenue they are getting is taxes from commercial business and the one mile long ( mile stick 140-141) I-35 speed trap thru there.HillbillyDeluxeTruck Thanks this.

And yes Bexar county taxes are the highest of all the counties in this area.

I run OTR out of Dallas and live in the truck. I park my car at the terminal. I rent a 5x5 storage locker for $37 a month. When I need to get away from the truck, I stay in a motel in the area for $50 a night. We're dudes, we don't need much to get by for the most part.dwells40 Thanks this.

Buy rental property and let the real estate agent manage it for you.Last edited: Feb 16, 2020

Honestly I have no idea. My cousin picked me up late and we struggled to find a place still open. I think we wound up in Lockhart south of Austin and we closed the place at around 11pm. Had a couple draft beers from a local brewery and chowed down on some great BBQ. Couldn't make up my mind what meat to have, so I tried some of everything.austinmike Thanks this.

I dont reply to anyone but ill tell you this. Im from Indiana and had a woman do the same. You don't need someone in your life like that. It may seem like you've lost but life moved her out of your way so you can see your dream thru. I moved from Indiana to Texas and lived in my SUV for 2yrs just driving and minding my own business. Id already lived down here before when i was in the Army so I already knew where I wanted to be. Yes Texas is still a good option..I lived small for a yr or two out my suv and hotels and now im at the point i can either rent a house, buy a house, or keep doing what im doing. Im going for 1 more yr living in the suv...then I'll see how i feel. Look at the hiring adds that are paying the kind of money you want to make. Then start making your resume match the ad. Personally I do hazmat and the money was ok when i started..but after 2yrs running it really got good. Specially with no real bills. Get in the truck...stay in the truck, sleep in the truck as much as possible, watch where your money is going. Relax in hotels sometimes cause youll deserve it. Don't go buy that brand new car yet. Just one to get you from point A to B. Make your own food when possible...but seriously....stay in the truck and drive. When eveyone else is complaining and calling you a stupid wheel holder smile and drive even more. Find your niche in trucking and go at it. Ive lived down in Port Neches , Killeen and In Austin. Oh and that woman who messed me over tried to contact me...but now im too busy in the hammer lane to ever return her call. And I can 100% verify the women of Texas are beautiful. Well...most are lol. My last piece of advice...stay in the truck and drive. I know ive said it lots but that can make or break you.88228822, SteveScott and Chinatown Thank this.
