I put away between 800 and 1k a week most weeks. Sometimes a little bit more.
I’m not that disciplined nor is my will very strong. I just don’t like the slop they serve at most truck stops. And for me gambling is no fun because I loose haha.
Hire on with a company that has an inverter and/or an apu. And spend a few bucks on appliances. Between my electric skillet, countertop oven, instant pot, and microwave I can make anything I want in the truck. I also added a small 1.1 cu ft freezer to go with the factory fridge and my 12 volt cooler. I stock up when I can and eat darn good on the road for way less than I could at the truck stop.
Girlfriend in Texas cheated already. Should I still go to Midland or another part of Texas

A question; Why the move to Texas? What was/is the reason?
Is it because the no income tax?
Low cost of housing in some areas?
Proximity to employment opportunities?
Or is it some other thing?BigDog Trucker Thanks this. -
Yea sorry man. I was in Midland and she heard I was a flatbedder. She couldn't resist.
Seriously, that sucks though. Midland/Odessa is NOT where you want to start your trucking career. 1 without an established residence there, you dont want to try to afford rent.
Houston and Dallas areas is where you want to be. I live just outside of SA (in the hill country) and its not a great city for trucking either. But there are plenty of jobs in the bigger cities.
Btw, there's a gazillion hot Tx women down here.Selva, BigDog Trucker, Dino soar and 4 others Thank this. -

Also for what it’s worth Midland/Odessa is a terrible place to live. It’s crazy busy with oilfield traffic, the rents are sky high and so is the crime rate. Unless your going there for oilfield work it’s not worth it. And right now the oilfield is slow and the rates are low. I pulled out in July. I was down to 1200 to 1400 a week hauling crude. I do better otr with less bills are safer roads.

With no roof over your head. If you are smart, as others have said, and don't eat out all the time. Yes. You can in a short number of years have lots of savings. It just takes discipline
CK73 Thanks this. -
I still stay away from truck stop food as much as possible, I just go other places and get food and that still saves me $.
Edit: If I was still single, Id rolling in $ with a new C8 Corvette on order. Come home every couple of weeks or maybe once a month just to have some fun.Rideandrepair Thanks this.
