I think, I would only call in if the trailer was padlocked and I could hear a human voice coming from that trailer "Help Help Help Help!!!!!!!!!!"
If it did not have a padlock, I would not even call in, I would open it and rescue a beautiful women, preferably.

Since it’s high value, Don’t just make a phone call and drive away. Post yourself as a guard. Keeping watch, however long it takes, is good citizenship.

Still don't see the point in calling anyone but the police if one heard people screaming for help from the back of a dry van.

This isn't an "or" question, there is only ONE answer ---->>> CALL!

I know I will make more enemies here but I don't think those who say not to call have a clue what is really going on in this industry and WHY we are easy targets for the cops, insurance and the public.

OUR insurance rates are high because we don't put a stop to some of this crap ourselves, we all act like it isn't our business.

LOOK at the threads with those crying and moaning about high costs of insurance as they try to enter the world of Owner Operators, thinking that they deserve low rates because they got an Authority or have 200,000 years driving truck and their daddy drove a truck.

Really are you guys really expecting not to be targets?

Cargo theft is a HUGE concern, if the company has one or two that are legitimate like a real hijacking or robbery, then it isn't a real problem but negligence is, leaving a trailer loaded with high value items in it is really bad.

SO OP CALL, don't worry if you hurt the feelings of others, you have an obligation to yourself, your company and to those who actually employ people who want to be professionals in this industry.

    I agree Cats, 100%.

I have just sent out an email to all the drivers I have stating updating the policy we have, it only said to report it and to stick there until the driver returns but now they are told to sit and wait with the load no matter how long it takes and one of the management team member releases the driver.

I agree. Police cannot be expected to be there 100% of the time. That’s why we need an armed civilian population. Take a position nearby the high value target, the dropped trailer.
