At places like that I normally leave legs a inch off ground so I can just pull pin and drop suspension to unhook .. at one location one of our guys caught shunt truck cranking it down extra before dropping it . He made shunt truck pull it out after he threatened to call plant manager.. guys were having to crawl under trailers and try to crank it down in winter due to his playing games.. after that our trailers were always dropped the way we dropped them..

I HAVE moved the trailer next to mine so I could hook. Wasnt too picky about the way I put it back either.

It's fun cranking the landing gear with 2 inches 'tween trailers, right ?

Don't get ruffled feathers, this is their job, and many enjoy their job.

I have drivers who were yard dogs, and they are great when it comes to parking trailers. I hired one guy who had no experience on the road, he asked one of my drivers who was with me at the ts down the road from here how to get into trucking. My driver gave him contacts to the school he went to and I told him to go to a company near his house and apply there to move trailers for at least a year. He did 18 months at the company and called me to see if there was any openings, I hired him, put him through a road test with the trailer that was in a tight spot and he even parked it back in the same spot (most can't get an angle to back into the spot and leave the truck and trailer in the front part of the yard.

Worked for a Company once that would send Drivers who needed backing skills to work as spotters. Tough way to learn, but it worked, and quickly.
