Ok so I was in a TS the other day when I overhear a driver giving another driver directions. While I overheard (we were all getting coffee) the directions they were clearly wrong. I mean really putting the driver out of his way, actually sending him to an area that is extremely difficult to navigate. So I politely say are you sure you want to go that way and he says do you have a better way... I say yes I live there... this is were I am based and I used to do local work there...
Well to make a long story short he took the first guys directions... because the first guy got offended that I would off my help after he already gave him directions...
BTW I normally do not get involved but once he asked me for a better way I offered the way I would go...
What would you do? How would you have handled the situation?... BTW I considered myself an expert in the area he was going and I am often called by dispatch to help lost drivers...
Giving directions...

in case you haven't noticed. there's an attitude amongst truckers. and it gets worse every year.
i sometimes wish i could go back in time and truck the way trucking was meant to be. although with my newer truck and all the comfort of livig on the road.
sucks to see a lot of the old truckstops i used to frequent. all boarded up. sometimes, i even miss the lousy flying j buffet. AND the restaurants one used to be able to park at. they are still around. with redesigned parking lots and new businesses. no getting a truck in there or even close to park now.

You can't get truckers to agree on what color the sky is so of course you both have different directions. When I first started driving,I would get a hundred different ways how to back which made me even more confused then I already was, lol. In this case I would have taken the posters advise because he lives there. But I also would have wrote down the other guys way just to shut him up.

I ran into that attitude not too long ago. I ran into a smallish truck stop not to far from my house and two truckers were discussing how to get to a certain place. The guy giving the directions was giving a convoluted set of instructions. I finally figured out where the other guy was trying to get to, and realized it was just a few hundred feet from my property line. Now, mind you, I'm not a trucker, but this is the house I was born in. I've lived here all but a few years of my life (moved to ND for a few years then moved back). Recently, the house was passed down to me. Anyway, I realize that the guy is getting bad directions and spoke up. You'd have thought I'd just spit on the guy's dead grandmother's grave. He hurled insults saying "what did I know, I was just a stupid 4-wheeler" and other nonsense like that. I just shrugged and said, "yeah, you're right. Living here for 38 years taught me nothing about my own neighborhood."
Puppage Thanks this.
