Since you've already left for orientation this morning this is a moot post, but for others that read. The second half of today (first day of orientation) will consist of you choosing a truck & inspecting it. Make sure you do a through job. Even take it on a test drive around the yard.

Pacific Northwest, down to salt lake city, then us 6 down to US 50 to US 550 to Albuquerque, I40 to Amarillo, US 287 to Dallas. That is not cutting through the woods.

Oh man , your shoes would suck to be in right now , I've been down that road before , throbbing pain in the jaw plain ol sucks ! Hope the antibiotics work fast so the basted thing can be given the flying leap from your head. Room temperature my friend , no hot no cold. Now that won't make it all peachy cream by no means , but the yelping from the hot and cold might stop.

Well I was at 1545 in the drivers room makin a pot of coffee today , a former Jevic driver , stocky fella was there most the day. I walked out with Jerry and 2 others at 10 to 4 , I had a Marine shirt on and a beard sippin coffee , the other 2 guys are clean cut. Don't know if you will be around tomorrow or not I'll look for your truck but Jerry seems to have us on a short leash . that other Jevic mentioned a guy name Rick out there , I'd imagine that was you , couldn't stray off from the rest of the crowd though ... it's a long walk back to the room.

JD I wrote a book up on it , the APU works but not the a/c , I'd be surprised if early Feb the shop will spend time on it. Who knows they might. Anyway it's truck 3333 an easy one to remember. I know not to expect miracles from them "the shop" so I'm better off already right ?
Day1 ... met my expectations , treated like an experienced driver , my impression is that they are confident in my ability to do the job they hired me for.
No signs of a Mom and Dad wanting to keep the child close by and manage it's every move , that is a GREAT feeling !

How often do they do orientation or is it just when they hire new people. Also how was the picking of the trucks you had to chose from?

@Son of a Trucker , the choices can be better , 2005's thru 2007's. It's not like you're viewing trucks on a sales lot ya know. And Company trucks are naturally gonna be more run down than those that were owned by 1 driver.
This industry would be 1000X's better if company drivers had the same respect for the truck they drive , that they would if it were theirs. That's never gonna happen. I would say some guys beat em til they die then beat another til it dies , but is probably more than just some.

As for the frequency , of the orientations , Tues each week , as long as they're hiring.
