This is a public forum. As such, there are certain facts about what is on my W2 I'm not willing to disclose.

Sure, I can understand that. That said, I took your '$65,000' from YOUR post, that YOU made about a page or two back. Which is certainly 'public forum'.

The reason I asked the question about 'Line 1 or line 3' is I'm trying to figure out 'how to do per diem' on my end of year taxes IF I go to this company that does 'per diem' in their pay and if/how that can affect things like getting Credit, and if Gross Pay goes to Line 1, or is Gross on S.S. line 3...nevermind. I should have gone to IRS site and learned. I just don't understand how 'per diem' works, is all. That is all. Sorry if I fluttered your feathers.

Posting what I made as an annual income is not the same as posting the DETAILS of my W2. I understand you concerns with wanting to know how the per diem works. It is valid. Just not a question I want to answered on.a public forum. I too had concerns, but decided it was worth trying. I'm glad I did.

per diem is not income, and is not counted as income on a w2 or for credit. It does lower you current taxes paid, as your income is lower. Anything based upon income it will affect.

Per diem is an expense reimbursement, that is paid to you before the expense. Without per diem, one uses their own income to pay the expenses of living away from home, and then deducts those expenses from their taxes at the end of the year. With per diem, you get the tax credit each pay day.

    mushroom1464 and DedHedEd Thank this.

Long day. Got up early to finish off the WM load which took 3.5 hours for 4 pallets. Outbound didn't get back to me until nearly 1400 with a load picking up in Dixon, IL going back to Dallas for an early Wednesday morning delivery. Put in to "t-call" it but haven't received word back on that as of yet. Managed to make it to a truck pull off just NE of KC as the Pilot in Kearney was chock full and I just didn't have the mojo to continue on any further today.

Chemster and Elsriver , nice meeting you guys. It was a pleasure , as for my disappearing act here , I been preoccupied trying to cycle it all from Tues to Friday last week. Had a day and a half at home to clean a very dirty truck and weed through what is my basic necessities as I was told I likely won't be in this Frtlnr long.
Had some DOT issues on Friday that needed taken care of before leaving the yard in addition to being sure my chains were all good and I had extra fluids to help reduce the out of pocket costs.
As I finally found time to set my appt for a mom+pop in Independence Oh. for 0800 this morning. 1287 miles to mty. But I'm waiting and Backhaul hasn't called me yet.
As I talked to Chemster Friday on the phone , he asked me if I'd called Backhaul and I had not. It was after 5pm so I called and left msg yesterday morn'n. I then went out to the truck and sent a mac7. Problem is til i move the truck away from the house about a mile and a half it recvs no signal. So they didn't get it til 1330 yesterday.
I guess calling them does no good right now , the msg says til further notice use Qualcom. Or has it always said that ? JD , Chemster gave me your # , I promise I won't call any of ya at 0300 I'll wait til at least 0500 ... just kidding. Well anybody have any idea what we usually backhaul from the Cleveland area. Oh and by the way my new alias is the Absent minded professor , I got home and got the Fridge in the truck to be able to bring the Medical injection Humira on the road with me , and about Chilicothe OH realized I left the doggone shot at home in the fridge... UH... DUH !

Years ago we had the same deal in daycabs on Belmont av in Chicago about Kostner av. twice a day , yep it's truly amazing I/we didn't have accidents once a week cause the dock personnel weren't allowed to go out there after one almost got hit by some a..h... that refused to stop. They would crash the sidewalks and flatten their tires trying to not be reduced to a speed less than 35 mph. It real was entertaining , there was a gas station across the street and when one did flatten his tire the owner of the station came out , told him he couldn't have picked a better spot at least the tire can be fixed right here but it's gonna be a $100 extra , cause of your stupidity , laughed and walked away. He didn't care , seeing how when the guy came to a stop he was a mere 15ft from one of the pumps.

Howdy maninthemoon. You without knowing it also met me for a short time:) I was on the outbound scale with you when you were leaving. Hope that old freightliner holds up for you until they get you switched over. They are decent about getting back to you over the phone after you leave a message for backhaul. I usually give them an hour or so after I finish unloading and if I haven't heard anything I will give them a wakeup call:)
