Been following your thread for a couple of weeks now. I applied with poly over a week ago and my app is being processed. Been driving 11 years accident and ticket free with no points on my csa. I live in Tennessee and have seen other poly drivers near where I live in cookeville,tn. Currently with Gordon for last 3 1/2 years. Money is good but hometime is terrible. Hope I get on with poly. Sounds like what I have been looking for.

With a steady job history & no CSA score you should be at the to of the list. Will depend on of there are open trucks, and at some point there will be at least one. Good luck.

At the top of the first post on this page you well see a tool bar. Click on " SEARCH THREAD", type in "medical". You will find your answer in previous discussions on your question. If not, be more specific & we will answer.

Can't help you out with the health plan as I don't have any. Made it out of Vermont, just barely:)

Wow what a long, tough day. Started by the truck dying on me on the back roads of US4 in NY. No phone service from the old T-Mobile so I cranked up the computer and got my Skype account to work to call break down. I decide to try and crank her up again to see what would happen (it had totally shut off on me and I had managed to make it to a pull out). She started up and the gold triangle was gone so I called to cancel the break down call and see if I could make it to the Wilton Truck stop. Turning onto the on ramp for I-87 I hit an ice patch and lost steering control but was able to somewhat control it until I got her stopped. Luckily I was only going 4-5 mph when I hit it but was still #### scary. Made it to the TS and scaled out with no problems so I headed on back on I-87 and between Saratoga Springs and Albany it shut off on me again. I couldn't get it to regen so called break down again and waited for about 1.5 hours for someone to show up. No codes but he jumped in and raced the accelerator up to 1800 rpm or so for a couple of minutes and that seemed to burn or blow out what ever was ailing her. Lesson learned for the next time that happens.

Rolled out again and hit a blinding snow storm and strong winds between Albany and Binghamton, it didn't last but about 5-6 miles but was hell going through, then started rolling through some nice black ice patches in PA. Made it Jonestown, about 30 miles from Harrisburg and called it a day. Four hundred well earned miles:) Can't complain too much I suppose as this is really the first day of bad weather that I faced this winter and hopefully will be the last for a while.

Poly sounds like a good place to be! I talked tow931 and his wife into Gordon way back when but it's becoming a start-up company for drivers, ie, they dont leave much for the driver to do. Done the Crete/Shaffer thing as well. Before economy went bad, I had a great job hauling pleasure boats only to be part of the 75% that were laid off due to lack of freight. A big plus is seeing hour MN facility is just down the street from Stockmen's TS in S St Paul! I really enjoy the part about trip planning and communication...it s how Idid so well at GTI. Not quite sure what I'll do but I still have ties to Shreveport area after vetting out of Air Force in'95. Hoping to find a cheap apt over by Waskom, Marshall, or Tyler/Longview area. If anyone has info on that, would appreciate it. In ghe
eantime, what does La Quinta charge for Poly drivers. Thanks to all for tge great info about Poly...it made for an easy decision to apply! C'ya!

As to living in East Texas, if you take runs to the SE, which is not always available since there are numorous drivers that already like to go there, you can get thru home. I suggest you not try getting home that way. If it were me, I'd leave a personal vehicle in Grand Prairie and drive home when you get back from a run.

The La Quinta charges $65+tax ($73+/-) per night with a Poly ID. During orientation Poly pays the bill. It's a nice hotel & for that area worth the money as most hotels can be pricey. Especially during the summer with Six Flags, or with Rangers & Cowboys games.

    Good Luck!

Thanks, and yes, I'm thinking no matter where I end up, if hired I'll be leaving car at GP. Being single, my apartment realistically is nothing but an expensive storage unit. With the great pay, excellent miles, and generous off-time policy, it's a win all around. Imagine that...actually having a life driving a truck!?!

I've been with Fed Ex Ground for 10 yrs now and have been reading your thread since I heard about Poly.. seems promising but I have a couple questions if you could. I was wondering what the avg miles per week are and what the home time is like ie. how often home and for how long.
