I've heard ex-drivers complain it was the inability to get home in a timely manner.
If you live in an out of the way area it may indeed be a challenge to get home regularly. If there is a Wal-Mart, Sam's Club, COSTCO, or Lowe's DC within a 100 miles of you it will be easier to get home.tow614 Thanks this. -
Ok..ty..i live in cookeville,tn..on I40 mm 280 close to the love's..i know of a walmart dc in hopkinsville,ky and one east of knoxville on i81..i think there is one just south of nashville also..the hometime policy where i am now is 1 day for every 7 worked and they are very strict with that unless I would be willing to take a pay cut.

Agreed...the lack of confidence in shop personnel is indicative of the industry. A good technician commands a large salary so most companies only hire one and surround him with professional part replacers in hopes he can keep them from screwing up. Unfortunately the tech usually gets frustrated and quits leaving the dummies behind...thx for the info

Howdy, read 80 pages of this blog before I skipped to the end. Poly seems like an OK company to work for. I work for Conway Truckload right now and like them alot. But after a couple of years you tend to get tired of a companies baloney. Conway has the least amount of BS of any trucking company that I've worked for and it appears that Poly has even less. Good deal!
From the reading I've done, it appears that Poly is phasing out Freightliners and going with those Maxxforce Prostars. Too bad. I had a Cascadia and Conway sold it out from under me at 528k miles and put me in a ProStar. It's a drag to wake up at 3am freezin your butt off and have to start the engine to energize the batteries, but it is what it is and nothing can be done about it. These Pro Stars have about 90% of the room that's in a Cascadia. This is where I live most of the time so I want as much room as possible to carry all my stuff. Donna Donna oh Prima Donna! LOL Does Poly still have some Freightliners or are they all phased out by now? Thanks, lemme know. -
Hey BBJones, Poly still has a few Freightliners in use. However, it's just a few that'll be on their way out soon. They aren't the Cascadia model. They are the Columbia's. I happen to like my ProStar but I don't have the Max Force model. Mine has the Cummins in it. Mine is a double sleeper and has quite a bit of room for me. I know what you mean about having to crank the truck to recharge the battery packs. They've improved that a little now. The newer units(Max Force ProStar) here at Poly have a system that automatically cranks the trucks when needed. I've not heard many drivers complaining about them so I guess they're ok. I got used to having a Tripak APU at a previous company and I know first hand how spoiled it kept me. Best system I've had on any truck. Anyway's, hope that helps answer your question. Take care out there!

Thanks for your swift reply LRW. I've driven Century Columbia and Cascadia, all the same to me. But the ProStar is a little cramped but I was getting used to it, until I got into a head on in Albuquerque on I40. (drugged up gal goin west in the east bound lanes) Now the truck is in Joplin waiting to be fixed, still after a month. Not their highest priority I guess, and they want to put me in a KW T660, which is even smaller than a ProStar. That's why I'm looking at Poly and Transport America. TA, from what I've learned, you can't idle under 80 degrees, good luck trying to get some sleep in that heat. What's Poly's idle options? Thanks, lemme know, BBJones
