Supersnack, I'm still here at Poly. As JD said, I browse the boards on occasion, but haven't really been active on a daily basis for awhile. Poly is still working out great for me. I stay out about 3 weeks and then take 5-7 days off at the house. June started out really good but has hit the skids. I had a sweet load to Hooksett NH that already had a Backhaul attached that would be a 6 day turn and burn up and back to GP. I made it to Medina Oh on the outbound leg on Saturday June 1 and blew a high pressure fuel line. Got towed and put in the Super 8. Swapped loads with a guy who had a 4 stopper mom and pop that ended in Maine. Finally got truck out of the shop Wednesday and got rolling. Got 3 stops off by Friday morning but final stop in Maine isn't open on Fridays or Saturdays. Finally emptied out on Sunday night and guess what... No Backhaul. So I sat all day yesterday and haven't yet heard anything today. That's just trucking though. You are gonna have times like this. You have to take a look at the big picture or else you start feeling like you are in a bad country song. I should be back on track of things soon as I can get out of Maine!
Glad I moved over to Poly Trucking

Quick update. DH down to Jersey and pu going to Roanoke TX for anytime drop Friday. I'm rolling again!
jdrentzjr Thanks this. -
Well all things are right in the world again after a rough start to the tour of duty this time out yesterday. Bought me another grill today and supplied the old frig with thick pork chops, flat iron steaks, chicken and fish fillets. Dropping this load off tomorrow afternoon at the Mother Ship and hopefully getting something good rolling out Thursday morning. Looks like summer has arrived here on the border of MS/AL. Well time to get to polishing off this steak and veggies

Hey Ya'll. I saw someone asking about the 401k, my cuz just signed up for it....it's a good deal. 1 year of service to be eligible, can enroll on Jan 1 or July 1 after you hit your year (or 1000 hours of service) Company match @ 100% up to 6 percent of your earnings. He also said they told him that if you want to contribute more than 6%, they contribute .50 cents on the dollar after that.
BigJon310, LilRobWayne and jdrentzjr Thank this. -
That is good company contributions. If I worked there, I would put 100% of pay and get automatic 50% return. LOL. I'm sure they have a max. contribution, but that 6% match is nice $$$$. Did your cuz happen to mention how long till you are fully vested into company contributions?

He said 3 years to fully vest, which is also a good deal.

I spoke with HR today & can confirm that it is three years for vestment, & matching contribution up to 6%. Also, Profit Sharing over the last two years has paid out at 1% of your annual income. Profit Sharing is also a three year vestment.
For those submitting applications, turnover has been at a minimum so far this year so hiring new drivers has been almost none existent. However, as of today, there are two slots to fill. Good luck.Son of a Trucker, LilRobWayne, Sissy and 1 other person Thank this. -
Don't know how I got so far down on the load board for today but was only offered loads to New Braunfels, TX and Dayton, TX. I decided to take the Dayton one which has a delivery at 0630 on Friday. I checked shipping and it was already loaded when I arrived this afternoon so I boogied on out of Dallas while the getting was good. Called Sam's and they said to call back in the morning about an early delivery which would be sweet so I can keep on keeping on instead of sitting.

Bah. Well all my hustling was for naught. Managed to get unloaded by noon today and picked up a backhaul out of Mont Belvieu heading back to GP. First trailer I was picking up had a total flat on it that someone decided to leave for me to take care of. I called the tire folks to get it fixed and asked if they had another load heading to GP which they did. So I was still able to make it back to GP tonight but no love on getting a load for tomorrow. So an unnecessary reset but going to try and get my PM service done a little early so not all is a total loss.

Rolled out of GP under the cover of darkness this morning. Was able to stop in AR to see my mom for a bit and take her out to lunch. Made it up to Matthews, MO tonight on my way to Brownstown, MI. Fired up the grill as usual and plopped on two, thick, juicy pieces of pork with some stems and roots. Pretty amazing that I have driven over 400,000 miles in the last 3 years and probably grilled about 600 times in that period in nearly every state in the union. Of those times only twice has someone struck up a conversation and joined in the BBQ. When I am ready to clock out of this life a couple of the things that I will miss the most is the smell of burning juniper and the taste of some freshly grilled meat. I think I was born about 100K years too early
