I've been with Sprint since '98. Every few years I check other providers options & have never found a reason to change. Coverage on the cell phone is not an issue, except out West can be spotty at times. Roaming.. no charge.

Internet is the same as cell coverage, except you can expect slow speeds in a high traffic area. But I do love the true UNLIMITED DATA. Plus I use it as a tether to my laptop when download speeds allow & I have the time.

Read the whole post and was wondering what the average weight is you pull out of grand prairie AND then the broker loads? 75000 plus?

Thanks for reading the thread. Most of the loads out of Grand Prairie are heavy. Most of the loads going out are full loads and they know how to pack the weight in there. However, many of the BackHaul's aren't that heavy. We don't spend all our time hauling heavy loads. All Poly outbound loads are scaled out before they leave the yard. It's part of the process when a Driver leaves a Poly facility with a load. Weight is not an issue at Poly. Hope that helps in answering some of your questions. Take Care out there.

If you need numbers then your guess is close enough on outbound loads. Most scale out between 72 and 77 thousand lbs. A few are more and a few are less but that covers most of them. A few of the broker loads are with customers that ship heavy freight. However, we get a lot of broker freight that isn't heavy at all. 15 to 30 thousand lbs. is common on a lot of our broker loads. Believe that covers it. :)

Quick response thanks. I've been driving an automatic truck over at Averitt for six years now but before then I drove 10 and 13's for a few years. I think I might be out of practice and wanted to know how difficult the road test part of orientation is? Kind of trans, where you go and if they usually have good people doing it that wont fail you if you grind a gear?

I can relate to your concern. I drove an automatic for about 3 years with one of my previous employers. You would most likely get tested by another driver here at Poly. Most likely in a ProStar or a Columbia with a ten speed and an empty trailer. Just a casual drive around town. You should be fine. The shifting will come back to you enough to do what you need to do. Not a big deal. :)

Good luck! Put my app in in March, got a phone call interview and that's as far as it went. It's all good though.

Well my regular back haul got derailed. Got a call asking if I could cover another drivers load who had broke down in Columbia, SC. Finished up with my two p/u's that took way too long and rolled on down to the FL shop and they were already closed when I got here. So will swap out trailers in the morning and get on to knocking out 5 drops in SC and NC. The one good part is the final drop is in Durham where I live so should have another night home on Wednesday. The extra drops will make up a little for the loss in miles and I don't mind lending a helping hand every once in a while to cover some loads. At least I am not the driver on this load:) (his regular truck is broke down in LA and his loaner bit the bullet in SC, better luck brother.)

Got in a truck with odometer showing around 300807 and hub showing 300007. Anyone know why hub is short 800 miles?
