Trying to get back to gp to get home. Have loaded last 3 times from minnesota. Delivered in richmond va. and guess what another backhaul going to minnesota. Do they have loads going to Atlanta. Been in a loaner truck for 2 1/2 weeks. Haven't been back to GP. Wonder how long will take them to fix my truck. It a had huge exhaust leak by the turbo and leveling valve broke.

I've been working for Poly about a month now. I worked for Averitt Express for six years doing dedicated work from gp to grand rapids every week with weekends off. It was a very easy gig with an automatic truck brand new with inverter installed. Truck I had did 66. Brought home bit less then $900 a week after taxes. Last week with Poly im bringing in over $1700 after taxes. This week a little less (from 4030 miles to over 3900). I basically learned how to drive a 10 stick to get this gig by myself. And it was worth it. I drove a 10 to get my cdl paid for by pam transport and then learned to drive otr with an automatic after that. So i was very limited in my choices into new companies. Learned to drive a manual messing around with our local trucks at the yard. And actually passed our driving test at Poly ( another driver performed it). I grinded a lot then and still more then I want too but I'm getting a hang of it. I live in Gp and was wondering what our other driver's thought's are on our shop. On average it takes me a week in a half to get my truck fixed when part needs to be ordered. I've used a loaner truck 2 out of 4 weeks I' ve been here. In 6 years with averitt I drove a loaner truck once. The old freightliners do have 500hp while the prostars have 435 ( cummins). This thread is the reason I drive here now. Thanks to all the normal contributers.

Me personally I don't run into many problems with my trucks to where it needed serious work done.. I was very fortunate with my freightliner where its only break down happened 9 months after being in it. Luckily for me poly was popping out the new internationals at that time and I was able to snag one.. I do see other drivers who are not as fortunate as I where their truck is in the shop every week.. But when things need to be ordered that seems to be a slow process. One time someone took my sleeper window cover. It took almost 2 months to get another that they ordered... Now I take my window covers home with me lol.. Most other drivers likes to wait till they're off the yard and call the road side line.. Overall not terribly bad could be better.

That's my only problem is when a part needs to be ordered. Either I've been very unlucky or we dont have many parts in stock. When the part actually arrives at the yard it's installed in less then a day.

Numerous times in this thread it has been mentioned that the shop is the only downside to working here.

Good to see that coming to POLY was a financial improvement. It's the ability to make money, even in a loaner truck, that makes putting up with the shop's ineptness bearable.

    Welcome aboard.

Welcome aboard. I have been pretty fortunate in loaner trucks with only one minor breakdown. I am starting to have the thought of getting all of my major work done at a Volvo shop when needed to avoid long delays at the mother ship. The old girl is running pretty well now so hopefully I won't have to deal with anything in the near future. Home time been pretty good thus far. Lots of sleeping in, lots of grilling and a couple of cervezas:)
