A word of caution when delivering to American Warehouse on Collingsworth St in Houston. You can spend the night in the parking lot across the street,BUT.... it is next to a railroad track. I got maybe three hours of sleep. On a better note, the personnel unloading there are extremely efficient & very quick. I was the fourth to get unloaded (FCFS starting at 0800 with gates opening at 0700), and was rolling out the gate at 0915.

Backhaul called about an hour later with broker info. I call broker to get pick-up/delivery info. He sounded quite perturbed that I wasn't loaded already because the loss was to be picked up at 0800 ( at this time it's 1030) so that it could be delivered in Waxahachie,TX by 1800 same day. Told him I just got his info and as long as I was loaded quickly I could make it there before 1800.

I call shipper to check load status and was told there was another Poly driver already loading that particular load. I call backhaul. Was told they pulled other driver off the load & put me on it. Two minutes later the backhaul supervisor for Texas calls and informs me the other driver has already picked up the load & gives me the drivers phone number so we can arrange the swap.

I call the driver & leave a message that I'm enroute to the shipper. Driver calls me back. Said he was inside taking care of the paperwork & that he would wait for me there. We make the switch. The paperwork doesn't look like a normal BOL but I've hauled loads with strange paperwork before so I don't think much of it. I drive 25 miles to the Flying J on the north side of Houston to scale. Call the broker to let them know I'm loaded & will be in Waxahachie before 1800. I punched the wrong number & called the shipper. I'm asked if I'm the driver going to Waxahachie. Yes, why? Well it seems that the paperwork I have is no good. It is only the loading manifest. I must return to get the correct BOL. I ask if it could be faxed. No, because I have to sign it. FINE!

After an extra 50 miles & a 30 min traffic delay coming thru downtown I'm on my way to Waxahachie. I call receiver for directions & am informed I can deliver until 2100. Cool, now I don't feel pressured.

While on the way to Waxahachie outbound calls with one load for Tuesday.... Laredo. I pass on it. Figure I'll be on the yard all day Tuesday so i let Octavious know I'll be available for local work. About 1530 outbound calls with a load that just came available for Tuesday going to UpNorth. I take it & call Octavious to let him know I now won't be available. He wasn't too thrilled since he needs local hello real bad & already had me on a local load. I felt bad, but ......

Well that was my " MONDAY ".

Pretty rough day myself. Took 3.5 hours to get unloaded this morning then I got to start my day rolling into the yard. Couldn't get a pass on my PM until next trip through and after 8 hours of waiting it to get done I get in it and the truck will barely go. What was once a finely tuned rig that I turned in for a PM comes out unfunctional. Not much I can do at 2000 as I still have to roll 2100 miles for an early Friday delivery in Tacoma, WA so I throw the necessaries into a loaner truck and am out the gate at 2200. Going to be a long 3 days as I am worn out and just pulled up at Wichita Falls for the night.

Well it seems as if this will be a "Monday" all week long. Left GP going to Up North yesterday morning after an issue with trailer landing gear that cost me an extra hour. Then at sunset I find that the trailer tail lights are no longer working. Pull into a service plaza on I35 in Kansas just above Wichita & call Fleetnet. Turns out to be a bad fuse in the truck cab.

Decided to finish my break there since I was only 600 miles from Up North. I hit the road this morning & 20 miles down the road the truck starts a regen which produces smoke that comes out from under the truck & into the cab. Call Fleetnet and find an International dealer in Topeka that says the will work me in as soon as I get there. I check in at shop & ask for a time frame. "Today sometime & possibly tomorrow." I ask What happened to working me in as soon as I got here? "We are. It will be today of tomorrow that we get you worked in." :-\

    So now here I sit.

On the bright side, outbound just called & offered me three loads out of Up North. Was given a three stop mom/pop going to Connecticut that I can leave with anytime I can get there. So I've got a good load already waiting at my discretion.

    It could be worse.
