Well no love on a load today but getting loaded later tonight and will be ready to roll tomorrow morning back to big D. As long as this storm holds off up here not sweating a little down time as I ran my butt off the last three days. Knocking out some more episodes of the Walking Dead and rolling on over to the Roadrunner place in Sumner in a bit. Haven't picked up there before but hoping I can just drop my trailer and stay around while getting unloaded as they seem to only load late and night through the morning.
Glad I moved over to Poly Trucking

Hey there, GTI is/was debt free as well..for the most part. GTI needed to move east and Heartland needed to move west. At 72, Larry Gordon wanted to retire. I'm still stunned by the news and just goes to prove, in trucking plan on change! Poly looks like its treating you guys well. It'll be some time before things transition to the Heartland way. Suffice to say, I'll still be watching what happens on the thread. Take care, all.
jdrentzjr Thanks this. -
Hi everyone , I have to at least remind myself of who it was and why I'm at Poly , then show my gratitude by posting here at least from time to time . I said thanks to those back in Feb who created this 200+ pages and still goin. Been doin well enough , to say I'm happy where I'm at , as JD has said in the past Poly might not be for everyone , different folks have different needs and demands. All in all , I can say that the 82% good far outweighs the 18% bad as in "shop" ! That's my opinion of what's good here and what's not ! I can live with that percentage of good and bad all day !
Now as I spent a week at the yard and then went home for 6 days , there was a 2 maybe 3 week time period I didn't get paid , but we do not live check to check and own most of what we have. My situation with the inverter , fridge and Humira injections make it tough when having work done , the company and I both understand it ! They don't give me grief when I sit there which helps a lot ! Boredom is probably the worst part. I came back from the house and went to Poly west 1st time , and up to Blaine WA , then back down to Dallas and did it in 9 days.
It so happened Saturday last weekend the Blackhawks were in town vs the Stars , and I had 4th row off the Ice in Dallas , as I was restarting my hrs. A 200.00 dollar hit on that evening of great fun as a crazy devoted Blackhawk fan. Oh and yes 2 large Ice tea's were only 15 bucks , "SARCASTICALLY" spoken.
A look at the big picture , I've been efficient once I roll , and try not to burn my hours up , needlessly by creative logging , when I do run out of hours I make it so it doesn't create them a headache , and I get the loads delivered as needed within the 70. I'm pretty sure most of us do this and it's what make them happy we drive for them , so they don't have to micro manage and kill us with the QualCom as they hold our hands !
I spent the night 11-16 at Buffalo WW in GP , only to see my Blackhawks get trounced , oh well 3rd regulation loss in 20 game thus far ... but did they get trounced.
Chemster great talkin with ya Sat. I Hope ya get to see the WildCats game vs Baylor , wth dude put out the bucks , and go have some fun , you earn it !
To the new hires that post here , welcome aboard , the best sound tip I can give ya is , as it is for most company's stay long enough to learn the system , then give it a little longer to work for ya . And if your used to the per diem at tax time as a nice refund , consider putting and extra 100 wkly into the Fed withholding , that's what I'm doin and still expect at least 2k.
I better hit it , 2am Got to at least get heading to Searcy AR by 9 , as I need to be Buffalo WW north of Little Rock AR on U.S.67 by 1730 , My uncle will be honored at the United Center in Chicago prior to the National Anthem as one of our Vietnam Vets on Sunday 11-17. Prior to the Blackhawks hosting the San Jose Sharks ! I'm distraught as I didn't find out til Sat night and was told 18 family member are attending the game ! How do you spell AWAAAAAAA , does anyone have any cheese for my whine ? It's been fun hope someone got a little emtertainment out of it , TTY"ALL"Lsc00ter, jdrentzjr, Son of a Trucker and 1 other person Thank this. -
Truck was finished Thursday night & I left Friday morning to finish my trip to Cottage Grove,MN. However, once out got dark and I turned on the clearance lights.... yep, more electrical issues with the trailer.
Tried replacing fuses to no avail. After about 45 minutes of that I called Fleetnet. Fifteen minutes later all the lights began working again. I figured I'd try to make it to at least Albert Lea, MN. ( I was in Clear Lake,IA at the Pilot ) So I called Fleetnet to cancel the road service. I had expected the lightsto go out before reaching Albert Lea but they did not. So I continued without stopping praying the whole way on to Cottage Grove. I made there with the lights still burning. However I did write it up because there is definitely a short in the wiring somewhere. Even though the light were on, there was no right turn signal on the trailer. Unless the clearance lights were off, then you had right turn signals but all the clearance lights would flash as well.
Anyways,I left that mess behind yesterday and am about to start the last leg of this run to north Philly and CT.
SS, glad you are making money even with the breakdown issues.
Maninthemoon, wish I could afford spending a week doing nothing in GP.But I'm glad you can.
I made $65k last year and am on pace to do the same this year and possibly a tad more. No, it ain't perfect here at Poly, but I still love my job.Son of a Trucker and sc00ter Thank this. -
well off to orientation this week, for those applying at poly i will tell you how it went for me; I sent an email asking if they were hiring drivers in my area then forgot about it as i was not sure yet if i wanted to leave my current job, 4 months later i got a reply with instructions to do an online app, filled that out and bugged them with a few emails and was told they would call me if interested, sent a few emails just to check but was told one time that they were not hiring at that time,4 months or so went by and i resubmitted my app and followed up with a few emails with the same reply that they would call if interested. a few more months went by and i had already set up orientation with another carrier but when it came time i just couldnt go, it just didnt feel right so i canceled. a week later poly called and left voicemail they wanted to fly me in for an interview, i called back with no answer so emailed and received my flight info. at interview i asked about phone interview that they never did but he said i must have slipped through the cracks lol i only emailed and never talked with anyone untill my interview. he offered me a job there saying his boss had already looked at my app. he did say that he remembered my app the first time but already had 2 drivers near me but one had just left or been let go. everything we talked about went pretty much par with what ive read on here and i liked what i heard. to sum up its been about a yr since the first email i sent. i was at my last job for 6 yrs mostly running the northeast and 2 jobs before on my 10 yr history with no tix or accidents. hope this helps anyone applying and thanks to all that have posted on here, i never would have known anything about this company. will update how it goes but im not much of a complainer so might not have much to say lol if things dont for any reason i will just ride off into the sunset, be safe.

I dont know about that not giving them a headache thing. When it's me trying to get across town b4 my 10 so I dont have to deal with rush hour in the morning it's on me. Skipping the 30 min break so I dont have to deal with traffic I hear about it everytime. As usual I took the whole we drive legally thing when we started as get it there and we dont care unless you get caught. Nope, I'm getting log book problems everytime I get to gp. So now I log kinda legally but making sure I get that 30 min break on the log as I actually did it. The 30 min break is what they do not want you to skip. Or that's my 4 months with the company thoughts. Kinda sucks, I thought with the paper logs we could do whatever. Gonna suck more in winter when you could miss a huge storm by driving a couple more hours. But now you got 3 feet of snow around your truck and need to drive 700 plus miles. Or worse ice you could have avoided. And by the way Poly, if you want a better csa score how about prepass so I dont have to enter every scale.

okay. After a rocky start, things are falling into place. I left GP with a home load to get my things. So, I took off after a reset at home, made it 240 miles and my oil pressure dropped. I was towed to Sunstate in Davenport, spent 2 days there got a b/h, Riceboro to Laredo. Same psi issues in Biloxi, San Antonio, and into Laredo. The truck did not shut down these times though. I just pulled over and gave her a break until I got to the shop. Of course, they didn't fix it either. So I got a 900 in GP on my next B/H, wrote it up and took off with a loaner to Cottage Grove. Our shop replaced my batteries in the loaner along with 2 tires in less than 2 hours. No complaints there. Cottage Grove had my trailer loaded when I got there a day early, so I scooped it up and took off with a 4 stop mom and pop finaling in North Miami Beach, where I am doing my 34. So far, I am liking it. Excuse any errors, I am on my phone and not trying to proofread on it.

I guess I could keep track of my hub miles. 2889 since from 1700 on the 13th to 1230 on the 18th + 4 additional stops.

Monkey1house, Prepass won't help at most scales the unit is attached to the DOT # so they might be more inclined to red light you. Unless its against company policy, you can get a Prepass unit yourself (about $19 a month) keeping in mind it won't work in OR, WA, SD and a few other states that use either Green Light or Norpass. DOT has already down a huge fine to both the driver and company for running 3hrs or more past the 8/11/14 rules (about $2100/driver and $10000/company, similar to the no texting/hand held cell penalty). Hope that helps. Good luck there. I'm checking things out and keeping options open here at GTI. just goes to prove that the one thing that never changes in trucking is...change!
Monkey1house Thanks this.
