    Greetings,

Starting the Maverick application process and after talking to the recruiter (Hannah who, BTW, is most pleasant/helpful.) it looks like my better options will be either the TCD or glass divisions. If the rank order of my priorities is:

    1. Miles (Longer runs, minimum down time)
    2. Money (It's not always about the money, but...)
    3. More time at home. (It's at the bottom of this list, as I would trade it for mo' betta' of the of the other two.)

    What's the best option?

FWIW, I've run reefer before (Note: The kind of reefer NHTSA/DOT are cool with.) out of Omaha to both coasts and know what it's like to sleep with one as a noisy next-door neighbor and am based out of Cincy (Go Reds!) if that has any bearing on the answer.

Thanks in advance and looking forward to the journey.

Heck yeah! GO REDS!! Ha! Personally, I'd say flatbed, but since you are omitting Maverick's largest fleet and freight-pool, I guess I would recommend TCD since you are used to those noisy things, and they are hiring 100 new TCD drivers right now. Get in while the gettin's good.

If you don't want to run flatbed you won't like glass either. Back hauls in glass are the same as flatbed. You will still haul steel and lumber.

Looks like you're a reefer man.

Thanks. It's not a matter of not wanting to run flats. In talking to Hannah (Recruiter), the impression was that running out of Cincy, Glass and/or Reefer were what the Company was looking for and would create the opportunity for better (longer) trips as long as I was "flexible" on getting home. (I told her that the quality of the trucking was much more important than the frequency of getting to the house.)

I'm actually leaning toward Glass, as it would route me through the securement training during orientation and qualification. If the Company needed me to move a hot reefer load, it would be easier to "re-purpose" in that direction than to flip from Reefer Madness to Glass.

Remember that recruiters are sales people. Question what they say from all angles. I'm not saying they will lie to you but they may withhold some truth. Flatbed vs Reefer is apples and oranges, glass is bananas. We are first and foremost a flatbed company. If you are in it for the money I would go long hall flatbed.

Well, my 2 cents....if I lived in the TCD hiring area, I'd be pulling a reefer right now. And just my opinion, reefers aren't as bad as a driver high idling his truck all night. Just my opinion.
