That's done by the DEF system, the DEF is a catalyst that breaks down the NOX. EGR is strictly to reduce how combustible the intake charge is to reduce combustion temps.

Actually, a little bit wrong. The DEF isn't the catalyst, it's used by the catalytic converter to complete the reaction to break down NOX.rank Thanks this. -
Sounds like a catalyst to me but wtf do I know about that crap? nothing that’s what lolHammer166 Thanks this.

That thing should bring a pretty penny, can't say I like the color much though.
I really don't have any idea what EGR, DEF, or any of the other emissions crap does, other than I don't want any of it as long as I can hold out. I do know what EGR stands for (exhaust gas re-circulation) and know enough that once a mixture of air has been burnt once, it can't help performance by trying to burn it again. I also know what DEF is (urea and water), and from dealing with urea fertilizer know it's very corrosive. Pumping that stuff in your exhaust can't be good for the long term condition of the whole setup. -
It doesn't stay urea, it breaks down to ammonia and something else immediately after injection.kemosabi49, rank and wore out Thank this.
