So,according to fmcsa now they are saying even if the truck is new as long as engine is older then 2000 you are elog exempt. This whole eld mandate is falling apart fast and I'm loving it about time people started causing a fuss.I've been screaming about it for two years.
Gliders with engines older then 2000 are elog exempt

Just came out today. I can't find a link to an article but I got an email (at work) with a link to FMCSA that said if the engine is a pre-2000 in a 2000 and newer truck it would be exempt now. Of course there was a paperwork requirement to prove it.
snowman_w900 and OLDSKOOLERnWV Thank this. -
It's on fmcsa' website

Yep, that's what I saw too.
OLDSKOOLERnWV Thanks this. -
By the time its all over with the exemptions, only the megas will be required to have ELDs. Which are the only people who wanted it in the first place. So why didn't they just put them in their trucks and mind their d##m business?
heavyhaulerss, Badmon, Lepton1 and 8 others Thank this. -
It is not just gliders. The truck you see to the left is a 2000 model year by the vin # but the engine has a label on it stating "THIS ENGINE CONFORMS TO US EPA AND CALIFORNIA REGULATIONS APPLICABLE TO 1999 MODEL YEAR ENGINES.
Clearly I am no longer required to have an ELD on board.Bean Jr., OLDSKOOLERnWV and Hittman 306 Thank this. -
That just made the 2WS more desirable than the 6NZ
