I'm going to have to check the vin on the S60 I put in two years ago.....
Wouldn't that be nice! -
How do you tell what year an S60 was built by the vin? I just went and looked at mine and I saw no dates or emission tags.

Be a good time to have some pre 200 engines in the shed. Might make a buck or two.

With the serial number from the Series 60 you can go to any Detroit Diesel dealer and get the year model of the engine, which is required by the EPA, and Carb to determine what level of emissions the engine has. If it is a 1999 or before, that truck will not be required to be equipped with an ELD. The stickers that are on the engine when it is produced frequently get faded or illegible. Detroit Diesel will sell you new ones and install them for about $100.
Bean Jr., Cybercat, OLDSKOOLERnWV and 1 other person Thank this. -

Guess my 1980's 1 wire engine means I don't need to bother with one....
Oxbow, Bean Jr. and snowman_w900 Thank this. -
I've got a 2000 model year 379EXHD with a 3406E, serial # 2WS16746. Does this new ruling really mean this tractor is now exempt from the coming ELD mandate?
Oxbow Thanks this. -
