Hi, does anyone know if both sides of the shim between fuel tank and strap shall be glued, or only against strap, on a Pete 379?

What do you mean by shim? I've drove 379s all my like and never seen a shim on the tanks. Are you talking about the rubber piece between the band and the thank? If so put the raised edge around the side of the tank band and lat it on the inside then tighten your band back up.

Thanks, yeah they might use rubber on later models. However, on my 379 from 88 it seems to be some syntetic band that was glued onto the bands. I'm changing the bands with some special made ones and will use rubber, but uncertain if glueing is neccessary.

glueing isn't necessary. but you can if you desire.

It is webbing and it comes by the foot from Pete, the webbing is adhesive backed and sticks to the strap, not the tank.

you can also purchase the rubber webbing for the tank straps from your local Peterbilt Dealer. It works and lasts much longer than the cloth webbing w/glue and slips right on the straps.
