So you apparently didn’t have the displacement on demand V-8-6-4 garbage .
that’s what destroys the engines .
the cylinder deactivation lifters are very fragile
if they malfunction it destroys the entire engine

It’s every manufacturer
a friend of
One has a 2023 ford expedition and it’s on its third engine and second transmission
meanwhile , my 2005 expedition has 150k and zero issues .
anyrhing made after about 2005ish
Is total garbage . -
A properly balanced and blueprinted LS based engine with no cylinder deactivation is an engine that will last a lifetime with proper old school maintenance program.
I want an ls because I want to use a 6L90 or even 10L90 transmission on a K1500 setup.
As for factory LS engines it’s a crapshoot. I’ve had good ones and bad ones.Vampire Thanks this. -
I had none of that.

I don't know about every manufacturer, I've never had a Toyota fail on any part earlier than expected, 3 different Camrys, would probably still have two of them if they didn't get totaled getting hit by idiots, wife's venza has 250,000 on it. Have a land cruiser with 300,000 on it been all over the country multiple times, about the only issue with them is frame rust reframing a 02 Tacoma and an 04 4runner, work that I would never do on a vehicle manufactured by any of the big 3. I wouldn't t touch any of the new truck based stuff though, all small turbo charged engines and just not interested in that crap. Have to buy the wife a new car here in the next year or so, probably getting a hybrid though since she has a ridiculous commute. Awd Corolla hybrid gets mid 40's for mpg kinda looking at thosehope not dumb twucker, '88K100 and dirthaller Thank this.

My 2011 Silverado 1500 crew is the 4.8L and I think it is an LS doing well at 187,000 but the trans went at 154K.
I know a guy with the exact same truck who used it to pull a 28' camper; his trans went at 170K
Gonna run it till it dies, the last GM I will ever own...AModelCat Thanks this. -
I'd like to build a 454 SS clone but with a better engine and an AWD setup. I remember watching one of the shows on Spike TV's Powerblock where they installed the AWD system from the Silverado SS into a RCSB GMT-400. I believe it was almost a direct bolt in minus a couple custom brackets they had to fabricate.Vampire and LoneRanger Thank this.

Owned the same truck as that but with the extended cab. Traded in with almost 200,000 miles on it. Rock solid truck, all original powertrain in it too. Never once was it plugged in and it was cold started in -30 (or colder) every morning in winter.hope not dumb twucker Thanks this.

I think I remember seeing that episode. Don’t remember if it was full time or selectable. Might be something I think about when I start my search for a k1500 or a k2500. If I do go with the k2500 I’m thinking of shortening it to a shortbed. Not sure yet but for sure it would be mated to a 6 speed at the least and a ls based engine. Might even do the lsx

I don’t even know why people buy gas powered pickups or vehicles in general anymore. 2.8L mini max and new 3.0 Duramax with no issues. Comfortable, handles great, better than expected get up and go (like a freakin rocket ship), awesome in the snow and amazing fuel mileage.
Plus I have the jump seat I can lift up so I can get some road
.
hope not dumb twucker Thanks this.
