So trying to figure out my next set up. I've been running with a GN trailer but am thinking outside the box.
So can yall give the pros and cons of both setup types?

Goosenecks we're made for more of off road conditions. 5th wheels are more stable, and are easier couple. 5th wheel is what you want for running OTR.

I haven't bought itbyet but if I need to have it removed I will andbhaveba CM brand bed put on. Why do you ask?

I like them to only pivot front to back. What we started doing was just mounting full size semi 5th wheels to the pickups. They last forever and are very stable.

I have a CM flatbed on my F450, and would never buy another one. I've had to have it welded and reinforced three times just towing a 14K bumper pull trailer. Unless they've changed their design, this one is just not stiff enough and flexes pretty badly.
If I went with a 5th wheel (or if I upgrade to a larger trailer with GN) I'd pull the bed and leave it off - just fill in the frame with diamond plate, add work boxes and a couple fenders and run that way. -
5th wheels are horrible off road but better on the highway. You will mostly see farmers, ranchers, construction guys, etc that go off road with goosenecks. The gooseneck ball pivots in all directions and is what you want if you go in rough terrain. A fifth wheel does not pivot except going front to back. Hooking up a fifth wheel is much easier than a gooseneck.
A fifth wheel pretty much takes up all of your bed. There are some that are removable but who wants to mess with that? If you are going to have a regular bed on your truck I would use a gooseneck ball but if making a dedicated hauler go with a fifth wheel unless you are hauling to a bunch of oil field sites or something. -
Fifth wheel is more stable and provides for great load capacities. You can also pull a G/N if you own with a plater, using a G/N to 5/W adapter pin. The coupler adapter locks into you G/N with a pin that will allow to couple up to a 5/W. Rated up to as much as 45K lbs.
