Thinking about swift among other companies, I am an experienced driver but have been hiding out in the EMS field the last 5 years or so, I Live in MI right next to Canada I see alot of Swift trucks delivering to the Chrystler plant by my house, anyway doeas swift even have reginal? I don't take kindly to what recurters say cause they are basicly car salesmen or worse, I have search the site here for a similar post but no luck any info would be helpful as far as home time if the even offer reginal. I have already talked to a recurter but she seemed in a hurry so I will just ask you guys. thanks
Go Swift or not? Do they have reginal?

Call them, and talk to them, they're not bad.

Swift has several dedicated accounts in your area, one of them is Chrysler. They also have a group of drivers that deliver in and out of Canada every day. If I remember correctly, you have to work for them for at least six months before you can try to get on any of these accounts though.

swift has comfort zones that are just like reginal but it makes more money. I just signed on with them and they do have alot of freight going in and out of there and you should be able to get a local internodle job out there and be home nightly if you wanted.

Towman is correct about the comfort zones. I didn't bring those up since the only zone available to you covers the entire east side of the US. As I understand it that is a bit more area than what regional usually is.

I'm going to pass along what we were told when I went to orientation:
"As a new driver don't expect to get a regional job. There are a lot of experienced, tenured drivers waiting in line ahead of you for them. If you don't want to drive OTR then you're in the wrong place"
Solid advice I think.
As others have mentioned, as a new hire your best bet is to request to operate in a comfort zone.medic1 Thanks this. -

out of New Boston, got on the Canadan run right out of mentors truck. Think it all depends on how you sell yourself , (talk to the D.M. for the Canadan account) I like what I'm doing right now, no plans on going anywere. Get home couple nights a week and week-ends. Can't beat it for having lest than 8mos. drive time. Good-luck!

As a student driver that left Werner how do I get to that point with Swift?
