    Hi there fellas I’m currently trying to decide to go with crst or to get my CDL on my own. The closest cdl training school is saying it will take 3-4 months to completely get my CDL. I have my family full support to get started in school. I’m currently waiting for urine to be clean I have been dreaming of driving trucks due to my history I couldn’t get my driver license any sooner then two years ago so I just turned 33 years old yesterday and trying to get the ball rolling for my future please need some feedback on how to proceed or which places should I be looking at. The CRST I’m looking at to go to is in Jacksonville Florida

    Don't get your cdl with CRST then leave before finishing the contract.
    There's other choices if you live in Jacksonville:
    Cypress Truck Lines - cdl school in Jacksonville.
    CFI - www.cfidrive.com - hires Florida students for their school.
    Stevens Transport - www.stevenstransport.com - hires Florida students for their school.
    Prime Inc. - hires Florida students for their school.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    CFI & Cypress do hair follicle drug test, so you need to be clean for 12 months.
    Stevens and Prime usually do urine. Best gamble is to go with Prime.
    If you leave you will have to pay them or any trucking company for the training to get your CDL. They make you sign a contract to work for them if you leave early you have to pay them back.
    And if you're waiting for your urine to get clean do yourself a favor and take a couple home drug test before you go get a DOT physical, also, stay clean. Random truly means random drug test. I got randomly selected twice in one week. Once work sent me the next time the DMV sent work a list of names for randoms.
    Not judging you at all, just letting you know you will get tested. It's not an if, it's a when.
    Why not just go to cdl school first so you dont owe them money?
    Sharing a sleeping bag with a wolverine would be a better choice than going with CRST.
    Their contract is unequal. If you leave, you pay. If you are fired, you pay.
    You don't work for another trucking company until you pay those Crusty ########. It's called a non-compete clause. Once you sign, you belong to them until the tuition is paid.
    It's like Hotel California for trucking students:
    'Relax' said the night man,
    'We are programmed to receive.
    You can check out any time you like,
    But you can never leave!'
    CRST should be near the top of your list of places not to get your CDL. Go to community college.
    First choice would be a community college, second choice would be a for profit school to get your CDL. Check to make sure that they're accredited, and see what companies hire from there . Also check their placement percentage.
    Avoid CRST, their reputation is bad about treating drivers very good. Don't sign up for 'free training" from any company if you anticipate leaving before you fulfill you contract work period. Your emphasis should be finding a company you want to work at for a year and THEN decide about how to get the CDL.
