That means you didn’t fully look around your whole truck and the surroundings. That’s why it’s very important to “Get out and look” for that reason. Either you weren’t taught right from your motor carrier or poor training techniques.

Diantane and moose, both great drivers. Everyone here listening. You’re both right. We have developed strategy, we’ve been using for a long time. I get out and look, but on my way to the truck, I’m cursing out loud. Then times I pull up and cut too the left to see, done both of those many times

I fully look many times, But on the way back to the truck I forgot what I saw Ha Ha HaBean Jr., Midwest Trucker, Doealex and 2 others Thank this.

Well I have worrying about forgetting what I walked to the back of the trailer to look for .Midwest Trucker and Wargames Thank this.

Sometimes, for I, it's been Get Out And LAUGH, sometimes.
Usually I, like all with barn door trailers, would Get Out And LOOK, Laugh, Point as well remove Lock and Swing Doors to secure point.
Only at Night (period of Non Light) would I Get Out & LOOK around a few times, ESPECIALLY when I was overly TIRED or Worn Out!!
The BLIND SIDE is except when Combo is straight lined!!
To Err Is Human, To Forgive, Divine, but not when some comedian pulls on the side of Blind. -
Those who hold the habit to get out and look in contempt, when your have your truck backed into, think about this ... if that driver got out, saw the situation from the rear of the trailer, how much that would have saved you in time and money.
don’t think it is stupid or useless, just because you don’t use it doesnt mean there are drivers who don’t need to get off their ******, out of the cab and see what is behind them.snapplepress, Bean Jr., Czar_Zero and 5 others Thank this. -
To address the OP, a 'correct' GOAL (my opinion) is to walk completely around your truck and trailer. In my experience I found that this helps me see everything I should see, not just the thing I think I need to see. On several occasions, I found out I had either more clearance or less clearance at other spots besides the one I was concerned about.
Also, once again my opinion, NEVER EVER be too proud, lazy or in a hurry to GOAL! If you question if you need to get out and look, you do!Bean Jr. and Moosetek13 Thank this.
