OP, there used to be regular runs out of Arkansas to Phoenix. That would get you out west but I'm not sure if they still have those runs anymore. I think they came out of Siloam Springs or Searcy, can't remember.

Seems to me where you live can affect how often you are able to be home and still make money. I wish more drivers would say that
-
Yeah it pretty much does. If you live in the central and eastern time zones you can make money and get home reasonably well. If you live in the pacific and mountain time zones you won't make good money until you travel east, but you won't get home reliably, if at allDAX_ Thanks this.

You could always buy your own plane
-
Are there any companies you can go to that are more west friendly?
-
In terms of companies to lease on with a load board? I don't know. Landstar and Mercer(?) have boards but idk how their routes are run. You could always lease with an outfit that gives you a dispatcher. They'd find you loads closer to home but you're basically a glorified company driver being paid .95/mi simply because now you pay the bills for the truck they gave you. There's no freedom in that to me.
Even if I'm leased to a mega carrier, driving a truck leased to me by that same mega carrier's financial arm, at the end of the day I choose how much money I want to make. I choose where and how long I wanna run. Best of all I don't have to kiss up to a dispatcher in order to get the "good loads".DAX_, Cabinover101 and Mountaintrucker4302 Thank this. -
Pm Chinatown. He has all the answers

I live in Dallas. I was asking for OP

With Schneider you won't do good leaving home but there's plenty of loads to get out with. You can probably get home every weekend but I'm not sure you'll make enough money. I live in Oklahoma and I had to stay out for 3 weeks at a time to make enough money there. Rates were terrible getting in and out of Oklahoma. I could've come home every weekend but I would've lost a lot of money.DAX_ Thanks this.
