Has anyone ever been fired by a company and later got rehired?

Please share your stories as I am know how alot of you feel about Werner, however I am really wanting to return to them. They had everything I liked in a company.

Me and my husband were let go during a terrible time in our marriage. We wanted to kill each other, neither of us were getting good sleep, and we were perhaps just burned out. We were fired for legitimate reasons. Late loads. I do not dispute this or the way they handled it. Hell they were a great company even AFTER firing us.

So, now its been about 8 months, I still want to go back. Any ideas on the best way to approach this?

Please do not bash the company, there are about 300 threads on this forum for you to go that. Just advise me if you have been fired and rehired with the same company and how you managed it, and any tips for getting this job back.

I am wondering if maybe redoing driver school might be the easiest route. :biggrin_255:

This is not a bash on Werner...just good advice. (at least I believe it is)

Take that experience and move up (better pay, better equipment, etc.)

Besides...you probably stand a better chance of winning the lottery than getting rehired...but I don't know.

I've got barely enough exp in to 'move up really' most good cos require 2-3 years. I've got 18 months, at most. If you take away home time, 15 months.

I once was let go for doing what I was told to do which resulted in a $10K damage to a telephone cable....... 6 years later I called them up and they told me to get back in....

    Not a trucking company story.......

but at least with a company you worked for in the past...you know "Who's who in the zoo".....

Call your old dispatcher, be totally honest with him (or her), and see what they say.

I was only fired after I quit, but have been rehired by one company 3 times. 'Course, they thought I was a pretty good driver, just a little on the "short fuse" side.

    Good luck.

    Good suggestion.

Bad thing is that you go through orientation again, and do all that crap...

and then they review your file as a rehire...

    ...AND SEND YOU HOME!

I would just go elsewhere. You have 18 months experience. You can get another job.

Legally everyone has to take ze dog. I do believe Werner has a pet policy and thusly I am not worried at all about that. Its co's like SNI with no pet policy that like to come up with convenient OTHER excuses with which to not hire despite the fact things were a-ok till the Service Dog issue was brought up.

But lets not get into that again, thread is about people who've been legitmatedly fired and got their job back :p

I would call them up. Tell them that you really liked working there and that if they look at you record it was good till xx date when you started having problems with your ex. That you would like to come back as a solo. Try and get you old DM in on it. His word can make an impact. Good luck.
