Hey jac714, I'm in Forest Lake, also in my 50's, and accepted to the Squire training. Hope you will report on your training as well, I'm guessing you are going to Indiana? I won't be starting for 6-8 weeks as I need to wrap things up here in MN first, but would like to hear about your experiences as well

Orientation is about 3 days here and pretty relaxed, I start at 9 and stay until about 4:30 to 5:00. The people here seem to be pretty good folks, I am glad I decided to go with Knight. -
I was at the Eagan terminal today....you were upstairs in orientation. Talked to Natalie about this forum and you! She stated you went to interstate and already have your CDL.....and I should talk to you about the school. Said you were really pleaded with it? I was looking at their Squire training program, but sounds like interstate might be a quicker/better route to take. Would really like ta talk with you if your willing to give ma some advice!
Thanks, Brian -
Hi guys!
So glad I read this thread. *Though some of it gave me a headache* anyway, I'm starting with Knight on the 15th of this month after being a Swift slave for the past year, I figured after the research and looking at other companies, Knight seems to have everything I want, now, I know the recruiter is going to give me all the fluff of course things I want to hear and such, but I've talked to other drivers that work with Knight and they all seem to love it. I just figured weighing out the pros and cons, well, really anything has to be better than Swift. Okay, I'm glad I was able to at least get my start somewhere, and it wasn't entirely terrible, but it has gotten to a point that they're stressing me out so bad I'm getting migraines and heartburn a lot. So it's time I make that move. I just really hope that Knight is going to be what I'm looking for as I too have the issue of needing somewhere with a pet policy. I have a 7 pound chihuahua mix who thinks he's the size of a great dane. Need the no forced dispatch as well, I'll tell y'all what, Swift is horrible about that, they say they don't but yeah, tell them no you don't feel safe on a load? They don't care, I get guilt tripped constantly for not taking something I don't feel safe doing. And their constant everyday b****ing about idle in the middle of the summer is insane. I don't idle when I can, but I'm sorry when I get left in the middle of 120 degree heat I'm idling this thing, I asked the fleet manager once, do YOU turn off your a/c when you go home at night? Then why are you asking me to turn mine off in my "home"? The other thing of course is Swift NEVER EVER EVER EVER gets me home on time. Ever. I'm out 6-8 weeks at a time, say I want home time, sure we'll get you home, 2 days after you put in for it with a fight. Not one time have they ever gotten me home on time. So, those are my top three stresses about Swift and why I decided Knight sounded like a dream come true. Those of ya'll who just started I hope it's going well, and that Knight does what they've been promising me. -
It is still going well. We now have a load from WA to PA. Trainer and I are still cool but we have very different ways of running. He hates that I drive 60 and I don't rev it up to get up hills faster. I drive conservative. Today on 621 miles I got 7.8 MPG through MT and ND. I also wish he would work on backing at truck stops more with me.

No pets unless you were grandfathered in before the no pet policy. But this was the Phoenix terminal.

Drove through Chicago today. Too much construction. Only got 500to miles in today with the traffic. Our next load looks to be PA to UT. Got to back at two truck stops today.I think I got it pretty good. And today's MPG, even with traffic and all, was 8.2.
