Tire friction with increasing speed is relatively linear up to 50-55 mph, but starts going up exponentially @ speeds above and affects mpg accordingly....when I started the speed limit was 55 mph and trucking co.s were saving $$$ but the drivers were suffering!
Just got back from a 2200 mile trip to TX and my new Mazda CX-5 (cross-over) advertises 32 mpg highway, but with the somewhat aggressive all-terrain tires (Yokohama Geolandar A/T-S), got 32-33 mpg @ 65 mph, 28.5-29 mpg @ 75 mph, and 26-27 mpg @ 80 mph (stretch E. El Paso I10 to E. Monahans, TX I20).....

They got me stacked up on 3 loads and 2000 miles keeping me busy through the morning of the 26th when the last one delivers in Utah. Will be on recaps by then.
This trailer had to have an alternator replaced. Went dead on me and couldn't get the door open to jump it; latch was broke. And I am pretty sure someone at the truck stop in jasper, fl deflated my tire. Totally out of air. I refilled it and no issues.
My truck had an EGR sensor replaced and that has resolved my frequent power loss issue.
I took all back roads on this trip through GA and AL and still got 7.2 mpg on this trip. Truck is doing great.Fajo Thanks this. -
My office gave me another .02 CPM raise and asked me if I get the dog off the truck if I would train. Not sure if I would want to yet.
I found a couple that will keep the dog for me while on the road. When I get through there or head in for time off she will have a real home instead of being cooped up in here or at the boarding place. Pretty excited about that.Fajo Thanks this. -
Woke up to a puddle of oil under the truck at Memphis yard. An oil filter has come loose. Truck tire that was low the other day does have a hole as it was flat again today and a trailer tire has a hole in it. Getting all that fixed and getting my load to UT.

I took a Vanguard trailer to the shipper today. First time I have had one of those. If I owned a trailer that Vanguard would be it. The slider system was different, the doors seal extremely well using a different design than Wabash or Utility, and one of the door handles has an extra slot for a lock when a shipper preseals the load. I was impressed how easy it was to slide the tandems and the doors on it were stout. Good trailer. This one was just over a year old. I would love to see more of these Vanguard trailers rolling around.

Now this reefer is shutting down on me. Getting a sensor replaced in KC and got two new steer tires. I have had a rough go this time around. Still getting good miles and all but lots of little issues keep popping up.

Delivered and hanging out in Ogden for today. Sounds like I might have to get a trailer from the yard tomorrow. This customer is under pool on trailers.
