Who knows what's causing it. GMOs in food. Overpopulation of the planet. Less focus on personal time.
On that note starting next week officially with Knight! Hope I made a good choice. Everyone has been nice. -
Lightside Thanks this.

I had spoken with Knight recruiting for the owner op division a while back and wasn't planning on doing it for some time but I have found a good deal on a truck and I might buy the thing. It is a 2006 International 9400 with a Cummins and a 10spd. They want 15,000 for it with 900,000 miles. The pieces are all coming together but I still have to get a compression test and blow by test done on it to make sure it is in good condition. The truck is great shape cosmetically and has a working APU on it. These two tests will tell me if this engine still has some life in it or if it needs an overhaul very soon. If it needs major work soon I won't be buying it. It is owned by a small company with only 14 trucks. They do all their own maintenance, trucks are at the yard every weekend, and all their drivers have been with them for years. I feel confident about this but the tests still have to be run. And yes Knight will let me lease a 2006 on with them. I already checked. I am excited about the opportunity.

When it comes to commercial trucks, it is a pay me now or pay me MORE later situation. Expensive to maintain diesels, not just the engine but et al.
Quote from a Semi tractor owner:
"When buying a used truck, I have always been taught that if you are planning over the road, and plan on doing it awhile, look at something around 350,000 to 500,000 miles."

I agree, as have driven tractors with up to 900K on them (I put on most of it and 'baby' all my machines in life) and started having many 'little' probs that kept putting it back in the shop (shocks, air bag, air compressor, etc.).Misesian Thanks this. -

They said I could deliver early but I got there and was told no way. I am always suspect when I customer sounds too helpful. Oh well, get a shower at the yard and head back in the morning.
Fajo Thanks this.
