What is the purchase price on the tractor? If you don't mind me asking. Year, mileage, make manufacturer.
I've been doing some research on Knight's lease program and so far the overall costs seem high compared to leasing through a third party. But my sampling has been small so the more info the better.
Thanks!

The truck bit the dust. I made it to the dealer to have this sensor fixed at least. It continued the same issue as yesterday only this time I couldn't get it to stop.
Knight sells used trucks outright from 51000 - the low 60's. The lease payment on this Volvo with less than 350,000 miles will be $350 a week; for the truck payment alone. That is REALLY cheap. -
Doesnt sound too bad..this link for used Volvos 250-350K sells 2013's for $65-78K

When they 1st started leasing to their drivers, could have gotten a Freightliner Century (500-600K miles) for as little as the $30K range..Last edited: Dec 14, 2015

Truck is done. It was an electrical issue. The sensor was not receiving power. Also had a fresh set of updates installed. Not sure what they are but the guy told me I was behind and had to install to update packages.
I noticed lots of Cummins power in the shop. I asked the boss guy about it and he said Cummins engines keep him very busy. He said they outnumber Volvo or Paccar shop visits by 4 to 1. When I drove a Cummins as a loaner I wasn't impressed and maintenance wise it doesn't appear too impressive either. MHC in Springdale told me the same thing. -
If you borrowed a Knight version of the cummins then I will agree it sucks, but they have those cut back to 320 horse and 1400 torque and the 1100 rpm automatic sucks even worse. -
I wouldnt buy a truck that couldnt be turned up to 475 hp....Fajo Thanks this. -
That is a good deal for a Volvo. The guys I talked to had Peterbilts and Freightliners.
After starting out with Volvo's I was hoping to get one when I signed on with Knight but picked up a International with a Cummins engine because I liked the layout of the interior and bigger bed.
They are great trucks, but severely underpowered, I'm sure they got a good deal on the smaller engines but I would not want to get into a lease unless they have one to offer with more power. -
I honestly don't have any issue with power. The Volvo is a 425 hp with 1450/1750 torque and the Cummins that Knight have are 400 hp 1550/1750. Meaning that with either engine when you are demanding full power you are getting 1750 torque and about the same horsepower. I only use 200 hp at any given time. I'll sometimes push it higher if I need to pass a space cadet on the highway.

It was a 2011 tho with a cummins, im sure the newer ones have changed. Always pulled could could take cabbage fully loaded at 45. Tho when you do that alot of your fuel profit goes out the window.

After I get empty in the morning I have to go by Memphis for service and stuff. As much as I don't want to be down again; its got to get done. I will point out to them too that this trailer needs to be taken out of service. It ceased being CA CARB compliant as of September. It still runs well too; it just uses lots of fuel.
