The hookup generation started in the 60's.. I have no issues getting married as long as she'll sign a prenup.. there is a lot wrong the the "system" my friend. It's just a shame the older generations of men didn't put a stop to the nonsense. Now here we are and you just have to protect yourself..

yes the 60s started it then it seemed like we moved away from it for a while and now it's worse than ever. I don't mean to come off as standing on a higher hill. I understand there's some serious problems. I guess I just still believe in love, commitment and forever. yes, I have been through a very bad divorce 30 years ago. Second time around I looked a little harder and picked a little better. I guess I just wish everybody could be in that situation once in their life. I wish you all the best my friend.

I fail to see how you came to that conclusion. I took what @Lonwolv54 said to mean not to give a woman full power of over him, his thoughts, his emotions. If that's the appropriate interpretation I'm on board with that.

I can understand your pain. The pain isn't going to go away at all. My mother would always tell when I was a young boy that time heals everything. It's a loss, and losses of any kind are going to hurt, because you invest so much of yourself, time, and effort into your relationship. You'll have to let it run it's course. Coping is purely intrinsic. If you go looking for external coping mechanisms, you'll only prolong the grieving process, or worse start a whole new one.

Perhaps she's found someone different. Maybe the relationship has ran it's course. I'd like to think that your relationship had a check engine light on. Many times there are signs of decline in a relationship. Maybe she's determined that you no longer bring added value to her life. I say all these things because during your time of grief, you'll have to face all of these things and understand that this is your new reality. It hurts for sure, but now you have an opportunity to rebuild and re-invent yourself. My advice is to deal with this head on. It starts by having a coming to Jesus moment and realizing that she's not here, and any of the reasons above could be it. That's your closure. After that, look at yourself, see where you're deficient, and work on improving that. You'll have growth then. Hopefully by that point, you'll be ready to give love another try. Hell you're out here on the road, if you work on your deficiencies, you may be a better driver. Most of all, let's work on self improvement and growth.

I blame dating apps and Instagram for today's ducked up dating world. Endless validation from the orbiters.

Well if you're admitting to being a Boomer then yes your generation owns a lot of the responsibility for today's issues; the most spoiled, entitled generation to ever be born.. the Vietnam veterans are the exception, I take my hat off to the veterans.

Had I known this topic was going to trigger so many folks, I would have posted on the topic a while ago..LOL

If I want to find success, I ask people that are successful.
