Back in 1969 with Tri-State Motor Transit, I delivered many munitions loads to military bases. One was a military escort load from a depot in Illinois to a Nike Hercules site near Cleveland. I thought we would be operating the self-unloading trailer. Instead, the Army took us to their mess haul and then to a motel.

I once hauled a super-secret highly restricted load from the Savannah River site to White Sands NM. Turns out it was a load of office furniture! Man was I upset, all the stories I could tell about that load! :downtown:

Expect a higher Base Status towards war footing now that the iranian artillery has started shooting a few hours ago vs US troop basing in Iraq. Iran is claiming cells inside USA (Whatever...)

Firearms policy has changed. If you have a gun of any kind on you lose it or do not go. Its that simple.

USUALLY there is a truck pull off, particularly those with Munitions and so on. Thats where you go with your big truck. The pulloff is somewhat near but away from the main gate.

Expect many stupid questions. Answer them patiently. Just be happy you are not the one asking impatient people the same stupid questions 12 hours a day. Unless you are a call center worker or something.

You wont have any problems other than the usual headahce getting unloaded. I once was docked for 14 slow hours in the Richmond Defense Depot as the US Navy picked individual match books, yes the 200 sticks packed in the little boxes you use to light smokes with... out of my 40 foot box absolutely full of them. To confirm counts. count count count.

I did go onto the dock very well rested, saw them counting 200 matches carefully and growled wtf? They growled back, policy, count must be correct.

Oh dear god I am going to be arrested over 198 matches... Sheesh.

Thank god fort fumble can go through a few and not miss them.

I do a ton of military and dod contractor loads. It's funny how it seems the simple stupid stuff has the most pia security measures.

Going to the sub base where they store nuclear war heads? They run a back ground check the day before so once you arrive you show your license and get a badge then they lead you to the loading/unloading area. Fast and quick. A load of tents going to ft bragg? 3 separate security checks, where they go through your truck and trailer opening every thing that can be opened while you are kept in a separate area under armed guard.

    US citizens only, No firearms.
I currently work a (days,) desk job there - for 16 yrs. in Enterprise Resource Planning.
(Cover blown.) I do my trucking thing nights and weekends. Garages love that part.
Drive in - and keep to the extreme right divider fence inside, marked truck parking.
Park in front right open spaces, and walk into bldg. with your paperwork in order.
You get a badge and possibly an escort. If no escort, ask turn by turn directions. Write it down.
Guards are a nice bunch of guys, if u don't give 'em a reason to put you face down on the blacktop.

    This is how tobyhanna works.....

You pull up to the gate. You have to wait for security to open the gate. Pull up in the truck parking area. Take your registration, insurance and license inside the security area. On the table on there, fill out that form THEN walk up with said papers and license and they’ll do a background check while you sit back down u til they call you.
