Well i'll start of with my background, I have worked for the same dump truck company since i got out of high school. Worked as a non certified mechanic for five years, and as a class B driver for the last five. Long story short the company finally went under.

Now I'm trying to move on to something better. I've put in apps everywhere, i have a clean MVR and background. But the pay is never gonna be much better than $15hr in this area. I have a wife and two year old daughter that i need to be taking care of. My wife is ill, and had to apply for S.S. disability at the age of 38. So i figured that getting my class A was the best option i have, if in the long run i want to make better money.

I have spent the past week reading threads about the different company paid cdl training. Cause i just can't afford to put the money down for a private school, nor do i have that kinda time....I need to be working. So to finally get to the title of this thread: I have picked Driver solutions & USA Truck, do to the fact i live 15mins from the Vandalia, Oh terminal.

Mostly looking for feed back about C1 in Indy, & USA Truck from people who have recently been to C1 and or currently work for USA Truck. I know its not an easy life, and it will suck to be away from my family but I'm trying to think about the future. I can do anything for a year! I have heard a lot of good and bad about C1 and USA.

I have family in Indy, so i wont have to stay at the hotel. So thats of no concern to me. But I'm gonna be living in a truck so it wouldnt matter if i did have to stay at the hotel. My major questions are about what to expect when i start with USA, and any advice for things ill need to buy when i start as a solo driver, like t.v., CB, fridge ect ect. Sorry for the length of this post:biggrin_2551:, just kinda nervous. I have alot on the line.

I know your pain my friend. I start trucking school at ACE CDL school in Albany, GA on Monday the 14th. My wife and I are both terrified, me of the money and her for being alone. We have never been apart in our 12yrs of being together and I have 2 small children as well.
All I can think about though is the big picture, do my time OTR, get the experience and hopefully find something local unless I am one of the lucky one's that actually gets a great OTR company from the get-go ( Not holding my breath).
I have researched and researched and I have comprised a list of 100 questions to ask prospective employers. So I'm going in ####ed, locked with two smoking barrels......lol

Good luck to you and hope to see you on the road one day my friend.....drive safe and happy trucking.

    DontTreadOnMe Thanks this.
