I don't know if it's still standing but I always enjoyed seeing the old ski jump outside Berlin, NH. We used to pass it all the time headed into Berlin and on the way to North Conway I think it was. It's been a good...15 years or so since I was last there.

Ski Jump outside Berlin, NH (Believe it was abandoned when I was last there)

My Nana used to go to Berlin for hot dogs. lol. Foot longs. Said they were the best she ever had, and always came back home with boxes of them. They were pretty good, I cant' lie.

Many a time we sat around the table just bs'ing and snacking on hot dogs.

Sorry for any hijacking of the thread!

They know they are at the top of the food chain, that's all.
    It gives them an attitude.

Back in the 80s, early 90s, you could mention Buzzys on the Greenland bypass and the first thing people would mention are the green hotdogs and cheap fuel. You could call yourself a real trucker if you could eat two and not crap yourself by time you hit Dysarts heading north.

Ya I pass that old ski jump all the time. It’s between Milan Lumber and Berlin. It’s one that looks just like that anyway. There is literally so many cool places to go and fun things to do that I don’t think one lifetime you could do it all. Some of us guys are planning a hike for January several miles up to an old cabin. Trying to get in shape for that.

I don't argue with my Nana. I tried once over parsnips when I was a kid. I spent a lot of time at the table that night...I think I finally gave in around midnight.

Not a fight I'm going to win. ;)

Either way, great hot dogs in the NE area!

Maine is a weird state. My Dad's family goes WAAAAAAY back there. The coastal areas are mostly congested, small towns. Close to I95, you do get some manufacturing, but not a lot. Lumber and paper mills are mostly in the interior towns, and it get rural back there reeeeeal quick. That's where you meet true "Yankees", which used to be the regional equivalent of "Hillbillies", just with a different accent.

Heading to northern Maine (where my people came from..), it's mostly logging, the roads are all small (if even paved...), and French becomes the dominant language. You can find parking, but it will mostly be like in a big lot at the bodega, or at the highway department garage lot, maybe even on a snowplow turnaround. It's rural.

    Bangah? I hahdly knew heah!!!!
