ell looks like im going to maverick next week. I was going to go with FFE but decided not to since i was on unemployment and would have got kicked off if i did. Thanks to the people on here that gave me advice it worked out well! Now my unemployment ran out so i called Maverick and i got the invite to go to orientaion next week! Im very nervous about about the agility test. IM 230 lbs and only 5ft 8. and smoke. Ive started walking last week 2 miles a day to get my hart rate down, ( i dont know whats a good hart rate anyway) but all the talk on how hard this place is to get on with them with there physicals and agility tests got me freaked out. i will be doing the glass hauling and i know thats hard work but im good with that. I drove flatbed when i got out of school over 10 years ago so thats good with me. can anyone tell me what i should do before hand to get ready for there physicalsw?

Keep up the walking. Very good for you. Begin drinking NOTHING BUT WATER from here on out until you get to orientation (and you would be wise to stay on this regimen throughout your training as the HOT season is soon upon us). Try doing a little stair climbing as well. Could help in the step test thing they do at orientation. Dude, really, you will be OK.

oh... and quit the cigarettes Man. Many drivers smoke, yeah, but everyone knows how bad they are for you. My wife just gave them up, she does the vapor stuff now (with nicotine). She SWEARS by the stuff. Give that a try.

    Good call on dipping FFE.
Place sucked, even when they had TL- sucks even more now it's all LTL.

All in all, you're a lucky boy to have the MVR and work history to get on with Maverick :biggrin_25525:

I didn't when I started. Atleast on the MVR side. ###### Ohio state patrol.
You set one road on fire and they give you an arm load of vehicle charges when you "evade" them.

The patch/gum helps as well. At the end of the day, it's all up to you.
Love my tobbacco, but I look at it like I do trucking- one day, I gotta quit, or it will kill me.

It's hard to quit; I smoked 3 packs a day at one time and finally went cold turkey. No such thing as E-cigs then so it was tough that first couple of weeks.

If Maverick doesn't work out, there are other good flatbed companies to consider. System Transport is one of the best around and you're in their hiring area.

What else do they do for the physical test? I am working on my cdl a license and was thinking of going to maverick. I am a big guy, and I too am worried about the physical test. I don't smoke but I am going to start working on my heart rate.
