    Hey 4eagles,
Just in case you were wondering, about the only thing you will ever do with the bulk head is put it away. I used to train for Millis but I moved on in 03. I have actually thought about going back to them to start training again. The problem is Dry van freight has fallen off so much and back then we would get stuck in the NE doing these really short SCA paper loads until they could get us something decent coming back out. Usually something coming out of the NJ port or Unilever in CT.

Let us know how freight is over there lately.

getting out of the north east is not a problem now as we dont do to many short runs up there now usually load glass or beer out of new york going south or west towards wi. the last month and a half freight seems to have picked up quite a bit as now as soon as you hit empty usually get a load right away or with in the a hour or two

    Thanks Spanky!

Spanky would know a lot more about that then I would. However, without saying too much I will say this. The merger between Miller and Coors seems to have been a very good thing for Millis Transfer.....

I was told up front that it would be a payroll deduction of $10 a check or i could pay for it my self. that sux that your sitting and waiting for a trainer i hope that's not the case for me... Jst wondering did you have anyone in your class that already had there class A??? and if so what was the difference as far as testing???? I.E the Wisconsin state CDL road test did you have to do that allover again.. I don't care if i have to but it seem's foolish to me considering i alredy have a valid class A commercial drivers license:biggrin_2554:

No, if you already have the license then you don't need to take the road test again. However you still have to go through all the same schooling and time out with a trainer just like the rest of us. You'll then have to take a road test for Millis though, before getting your own truck. Basically the only difference for you is you already have the road test to get your license out of the way. You still need to pass the backing maneuvers test and road test to graduate school. Then when you get done with trainer you'll need to pass "Millis" road test to get the job and your own truck. Their were two guys in my class that already had class A's. You will not have a problem passing any of the tests. You got the hardest one out of the way already!

Well I've been out with my trainer for about a week and a half. Got home last wednesday nite Cuz he wanted to be home for the memorial day weekend so we will be going back out on Tuesday. Man I'm sure learning a lot of stuff they didn't teach me about in school. And we've been running real steady too. All is great getting along with trainer real well plan on scheduling road test this week sometime. NO complaints about the trainer or Millis!

hey guys most of you won,t recognoze me I havent been here in a while. I started MTI on march 9. Finished school went out with trainer. And I have had my own truck for 2 weeks now. Thing are going quite well. Haven,t run into any problems as of yet, knock on wood... They have kept me very busy. And so far I like it as much if not more than I thought I would. I must admit there is more to it than just driving a truck up and down the road. Just take your time ask alot of questions when you are in school and especially when your with your trainer. And when you get on your own don,t be afraid to ask your dispatcher some ?'s your first dispatcher will be one who is specifically assigne for new drivers they will be very helpful. You "WILL" make mistakes don't try to hide them, recognize them learn from them and move on. But above all "BE SAFE" don't try to out drive your ability. This can be a very dangerous job. Talk with the other driver from millis they have all been very helpful to me so far. Ask them ?'s as well. Anyway. I am home for the holiday weekend and I just wanted to pop in here and say hello and give an update on things. And alsoo say thanks to the guys on here for all there helpful info. especially SRICK and SPANKY. Met both these guys when I was in scool and asked them many /'s proir to going they were very helpful. As "most" of the people at millis have been there are a few anti-socials but that is anywhere. Again good luck and be safe....-

Hey 4 eagles, just a quick question. What is the total out of pocket expenses that someone going through their training would need. I'm talking about someone who is dirt broke at the moment and has to take everything that Millis is offering to pay for.

If they pick you to be able to go threw there training:biggrin_25525: it's 100$ to reserve your spot in the class. then on the first day you get to class it's another 400$ total of 500$.... when you get to school keep in mind IF your going to have to stay in a hotel room you will need money for food and other daily expenses for 3weeks... from what i understand the hotel that I,m staying in has a fridge and microwave in the room so my plan is to hit a local wal-mart to buy some food so i don't have to spend money out to eat everymeal.. hope this helps... I start MTI june 1st in ohio it's almost 700 miles from home so i will not go back home on the weekends so it may cost a little more than some... anyway thanx to all that have answerd any questions of mine.... truckerjeff,spanky,4eagles i hear ya loud and clear to ask questions and be safe..thanx again god bless to all and keep them load's haulin:biggrin_25519:
