Well hello all!
Been quite awhile since i've been on here. I finally finished all my training and got into my own truck just a few days before the fourth of july holiday. I got 2 loads under my belt on my way home for the holiday that went rather smoothly. I'll be going back out on wednesday the the 8th. I was out from memorial day weekend til now so i needed some quality home time with the family before i go back out. They gave me a 2006 kenworth T-2000. My truck number is 6131 so stop and say hi if ya see me sometime...
Freight is very good from what i can see. My trainer and I never had less then 3200 miles a week. Yes they closed two of the schools but thats temporary Millis is doing great! well gotta go. I'm taking my son to see the new transformers movie stay safe everybody!
Going to MTI April 13TH Richfield WI.

4eagles,
Just making a little small talk here but about how many miles
did your truck have on it when you got it? -
Ok, Millis is getting new trucks to replace all the 2005 trucks. A few of the 06's may get replaced if they have high millage, but not sute about that.
MR EXPRESS Thanks this. -
Thanks allot man your all over it.BTW what motor do you think is best?
-
I honestly don't know. only one ive had experience with is the CAT, allthough the Cummins is a supposed to be a clean burning engine, whatever that means.
MR EXPRESS Thanks this. -
srick has for the clean burning engine i would say it just means it has a particulate filter on the exhaust and as for which has more power i am not sure as i have not driven a cummins in a big truck before just pick ups
-
It had 593,000 miles on it. Yes the 05's will all be gone by september. Theres only about 20 of them left. -
4eagles,
Sounds like you maybe going to get a new truck not to long from now.
Thats going by what I read about millis standards! -
Millis Men,
I have been doing search after search after search and for what ever the reason I keep ending up back here with Millis. I'm from Illinois, so if any one else works at Millis and is from here as well let me know, I'd like to talk with you.
Anyways, I have no CDL and really want to get my start in trucking, I have been at the same job in construction for 20 years and am to old to keep swinging picks and shovels!
I am skeptical of this 500 up front, but understand there are costs involved. I talked with a recruiter and was told next class was in Sept at the Ohio location. I guess the others are closed because they dont have enough trucks?
The benefits sound very good and the pay for starting out seems above a lot of others i read about, I just really want to work my tail off and earn my keep and perhaps a little respect along the way.
My hats off to you guys that are already driving, you move America and thats somthing to be proud of!
I spent 6 years serving this country in the U.S.M.C. and know we have to fight to bring back the traditions of those who came before us.
This economy WILL come back and the AMERICAN truck driver will be the one in the front lines, I hope to soon be joining you guys and would be proud to be called a part of your team!
I hope to hear some insights(good or bad) from some of you guys who have been at this ( old or new) as I have heard good things about Millis and hope they are for the most part true.

So I went back out and my first load was to Buffalo NY. That was a load of mail I picked up here in Wisconsin at Quad Graphics. Then picked up a load of dog food in buffalo and took that to Atlanta GA. From there went to East point GA picked up a load of glass and took that to the Miller brewery in Eden NC. Picked up a beer load in Eden and hauled that to jacksonville FL. Dead headed back to Albany GA picked up another load of beer and brought that all the way here to the brewery in milwaukee. (Don't ask me why we take loads of beer from one brewery to another havent figured that one out yet.) Anyways it's Sunday evening and I've been home since FRI. morning. Wanted to get home Saturday but they sent me home a little early. Just came home to celebrate my 12th wedding anniversary will be heading back out in the morning bright and early. This has been a really positive experience so far. They've been running me like crazy haven't had to sit at all yet. I know they're testing me to see if this rookies willing to run. Well hell yeah I wanna run bring it on! I aint out here to sit at the terminals and coffee clutch with the other drivers. I'm out there away from my wife and family and friends hell yeah lets get them wheels turnin. I have to give a Huge thanks to my trainer Dan who still continues to help me on a daily basis. Thanks for everything Dan! YOU ROCK!!!!
MR EXPRESS, jdsgungho and Hitman Thank this.
